Abstract

Color is, in the expression, a direct factor giving vitality to the works. In makeup, color plays an important role as an expression means. Face makeup is a way of satisfying one's psychological impulse to change one's appearance with large possibility to express oneself freely using color. Besides, it creates one's unique air by applying some behavior characteristics related to the social role, color symbol, popular color, and the harmony with clothes to one's face makeup. Present days, the usefulness of makeup is defined as a self-usefulness by direct creating act, a role performing which is possibly an interpersonal usefulness, and the satisfaction with possible high evaluation from others. This, that is to say, could imply the human psychology on present-day makeups which makes a continuous relation between self-esteem and the harmony with society. Face makeup, an act which puts color to the face, is a means to maintain the social appearance, especially eye and lip makeup is a key to create attractive looks. The purpose of the study is to identify the effects of color and the image color creates in face makeup, color makeup by season, women's behavior relating to color makeup, and the relation between popular color by season and the actual color women use in practice. These were designed to provide a basic information for the studies in the fleld related to makeups, which has relatively a short history than the domestic cosmetics industry with a long history, and further to prepare a systematic grounds for planning the colors of eye shadows and lipsticks. Also, the study was to help women to recognize the importance of color selection in face makeup through the color image expressed on the face and help women to create image-up effects by using as a practical information for their makeup behavior.
