청소년 자원봉사활동의 활성화 방안에 관한 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to survey and analyze the conditions of juveniles' volunteer service activities, address the problems involving them and thereby, suggest the measures to activate their volunteer service activities. For this purpose, relevant literature was reviewed and thereupon, a questionnaire survey was conducted by sampling middle and high school students in Kangbuk-gu, Seoul. The measures to activate juveniles' volunteer service activities can be suggested as follows; First, it is necessary to emphasize the concepts and needs of the volunteer service activities in designing the volunteer service programs, while diversifying the programs in such a way that the volunteer service activities may be conducive to juveniles' growth into democratic citizens. Second, it is essential to recruit and deploy the professional manpower at schools to program a volunteer service education system, and exchange with relevant organizations. Third, it is also necessary to develop a variety of volunteer service programs in consideration of juveniles' characteristics, particularly, the differences between male and female students, or between middle and high school students. Fourth, it is deemed essential to reinforce the assessment and reward functions to satisfy the volunteer students. In particular, those students with their services assessed high need to be rewarded for their services in diverse ways to solve the problems of unspontaneous and obligated volunteer services. Fifth, it is necessary to use the volunteer service centers positively, namely, those organizations supporting students' volunteer service activities. To this end, it is required to organize relevant community groups or centers to be linked with the schools, assess and certify the community-based volunteer service activities, train and reeducate teachers, train and deploy the volunteer service leaders at schools and community centers, develop and distribute the volunteer service programs, provide for various equipments and education materials as well as information regarding the community human resources, reinforce counselling and guiding functions for juveniles and provide for the programs which cannot be implemented at the level of schools. Sixth, if supply of volunteer services could be linked widely with the demands through establishment of a cooperative system between them, a more variety of volunteer service programs can be developed and operated.
