옵아트의 조형원리를 적용한 업스타일 디자인 연구

Abstract

Human has all different levels to observe even though it is same object and also has all various meanings depend on how they interpret about it. Information that they get it through unstable retina can cause visual aberration. It is called as illusion and Op Art (Optical Art) is a section of moulding using illusion. The name of Op Art is an abbreviation of Optical Art and it is a field of Art which causes visual aberration based on geometric patterns. Since the end of 1950, the foundation of the development for Op Art had made through the process of visual education in the Bauhaus and Artists such as Victor Vasarely and Bridget Rilet led various chance in Op Art with their works based on geometric abstract and visual aberration. Ways in expression of Op Art are contract, reiteration, gradation, outburst and etc of basic elements which are dot, line and surface, it expresses the form of euphemism and refraction and causes visual aberration. It classified confirmed unique moulding elements through precedent study into simplicity, attractiveness of colour, repeatability and expendability and studied in detail. Up style is a section of hair design art which represents feminine beauty and elegance in the meeting or place requires formality and dignity. Up style has been developed variously with the change of the times, designed into wedding dresses, evening dresses and handbook (Korean traditional clothes) which represent the elegance and utilised to Semi-up style which suits with casual looks. It was decided to graft moulding elements with up style which emphasises feminine beauty and is applied to numerous ways. First of all, it takes a look at the characteristics of basic design element which are balance, unification, highlight and rhythm in designing up style. Therefore, it was confirmed the characteristics of op art and up style which are two sections in moulding art and researched how visual aberration is used in architecture, fashion, interiors, and nail art fields which geometric patterns of Op art are applied. The visual aberration of Op art applied in various fields has been creating a variety of artistic characteristics, and it seems that it will suggest more abundant and unique artistic characteristics in Up style. The geometric pattern based on moulding elements of Op art focuses on the evening up-style emphasizing elegance and beauty and it could lead the artistic possibilities like below by preparing Op art work. First, it was studied about moulding elements of Op art which are simplicity, attractiveness of colour, repeatability and expendability and could been found the motif in the works of representative artists. Second, it was attempted to construct the works by applying the moulding elements of Op Art to evening up-style which expresses the feminine beauty. Third, the illustration was made based on moulding elements of Op art and the work was formed with a model who was set as hair length 60cm and abundant amount of hair to express up-style. The unique design of up-style applying moulding elements to design elements of up-style was formed and the feminine beauty and elegance was expressed on it. Thus, purpose of this study is to show that visual art of Op art can be harmonised with evening up-style which is one of sections in hair design and on creativity and creative artistic values which can be reinterpreted that it was worth to try this kind of attempts in a design field.

[Keyword]Op art, Up-style, Moulding Elements, and Visual Aberration |인간은 동일한 대상이라도 인지하는 정도가 모두 다르며 또한 해석의 의미도 제각각이다. 불안정한 망막을 통하여 받아들이는 정보는 이처럼 시각적 착오를 만들기도 한다. 이러한 시각적 착오를 착시라 하며 옵아트는 이러한 착시를 이용한 조형예술의 한 분야이다. 옵아트의 명칭은 옵티컬 아트(Optical Art)의 준말로 기하학적인 패턴을 바탕으로 대중의 시각적 착시를 일으키는 예술 분야이다. 1950년 말부터 바우하우스에서 시각적 교육과정을 통하여 옵아트 발전의 발판이 마련되었으며 이후 빅토르 바자렐리와 브리짓 라일리등 대표 작가들의 기하학적 추상과 시각적 착시를 통한 작품 활동으로 옵아트의 다양한 변화를 이끌었다. 옵아트 표현방법으로는 점, 선, 면의 기본적 조형요소를 대비, 반복, 점이, 방사등으로 완곡과 굴절 형태로 표현하며 시각적 착시를 일으킨다. 선행 연구를 통하여 확인 된 옵아트만의 독특한 조형 요소를 단순성, 주목성, 반복성, 확장성으로 구분하여 세세히 고찰 하였다. 업스타일은 격식과 품위를 요구하는 장소 또는 모임에서 여성의 아름다움과 우아함을 나타내는 헤어 디자인 예술의 한 분야이다. 시대의 변화와 함께 업스타일은 다양하게 발전되어 왔으며 웨딩 드레스, 이브닝 드레스, 한복 등 우아함을 나타내는 의복과 함께 디자인 되어 왔으며 간편한 차림에도 어울리는 세미 업스타일로도 활용되어 지고 있다. 이처럼 여성의 아름다움을 강조하고 다양한 방면에서 적용되고 있는 업스타일을 옵아트의 조형 요소와 접목하기로 하였다. 우선, 업스타일을 디자인함에 있어 기본적 디자인 요소인 조화, 균형, 통일, 강조, 리듬에 대한 특징을 살펴보았다. 이로서 조형예술의 두 분야인 옵아트와 업스타일의 특징을 확인 하고 옵아트의 기하학적인 패턴이 적용된 건축, 패션, 인테리어, 네일 분야에서 시지각적인 착시가 어떻게 활용되고 있는지 조사해 보았다. 여러 분야에서 적용되는 옵아트의 시지각적 착시는 다양한 예술성을 창조하고 있으며 업스타일에도 더욱 풍부하고 독창적인 예술성을 제시 하리라 가늠 할 수 있게 되었다. 이렇게 옵아트의 조형적 요소를 바탕으로 한 기하학적인 패턴을 우아함과 아름다움을 강조하는 이브닝 업스타일에 주목하고 예술적 가능성을 옵아트 작품을 준비하면서 아래와 같이 이끌어 낼 수 있었다.

첫째, 옵아트의 조형적 요소인 단순성, 주목성, 반복성, 확장성에 대하여 고찰하고 대표 작가의 작품에서 그 모티브를 찾을 수 있었다. 둘째, 여성의 아름다움을 표현하는 이브닝 업스타일에 옵아트의 조형적 요소를 적용하여 작품제작을 시도 하였다. 셋째, 옵아트의 조형적 요소를 바탕으로 일러스트레이션을 제작하고 업스타일을 표현할 수 있는 모량이 풍부하고 모발길이가 60cm 모델을 선정하여 작품을 제작하였다.

옵아트의 조형요소를 업스타일의 디자인 요소에 적용하여 업스타일만의 디자인을 제작하였고 여성의 우아하고 아름다움을 표현하였다. 이는 옵아트의 시지각적 예술이 헤어디자인 분야 중 이브닝 업스타일과 조화롭게 어울릴 수 있었으며 이러한 디자인의 다양한 시도가 보다 독창적이고 창조적인 예술적 가치로서도 재해석 될 수 있었음에 본 연구는 그 의의 둔다.
