서울소재 복합시설 공공도서관의 이용자 만족도 및 인식에 관한 연구

Abstract

공공도서관의 수가 급격히 증가하면서 공공도서관 부지를 마련하는데 어려움을 겪게 되자 새로운 형태의 공공도서관 즉, 타시설과 한 건물 혹은 한 대지에 같이 건립되는 복합시설 공공도서관이 부각되었다. 서울소재 공공도서관을 중심으로 살펴보면, 2014년을 기준으로 132개 공공도서관 중 절반에 가까운 64개관이 다른 시설과 복합 되어 건립ㆍ운영되고 있다. 이에 따라 복합시설 공공도서관에 대한 다양한 연구가 진행되었지만 지금까지 복합시설 공공도서관을 실제 이용하고 있는 이용자의 인식이나 만족도에 대한 분석 및 평가에 관한 연구는 없었다. 새로운 형태의 공공도서관 환경에 이용자의 지지와 지자체의 적극적인 지원을 받기 위해서는 도서관 이용자들의 기대와 요구, 그리고 인식을 정확히 파악하고 이를 바탕으로 한 도서관의 운영전략 및 건립방안이 세워져야 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 복합시설 공공도서관 이용자를 대상으로 도서관 이용만족도와 복합화에 대한 인식을 분석하였다. 그 결과 복합시설 공공도서관 이용자들은 복합시설 도서관을 이용하면서 인적자원, 정보자원, 서비스, 환경, 지역사회의 유대에 대해 대체적으로 만족하고 있으며, 복합화에 대해서도 긍정적으로 인식하고 있는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 또한 복합시설의 유형과 이용자 특성의 차이가 복합시설 공공도서관 이용자의 만족도 및 인식에 영향을 미치는 지를 분석한 결과 복합시설 공공도서관 이용만족도에는 ‘도서관의 위치(층)’와 ‘이용자의 연령’ 및 ‘소속’이 그리고 복합화 인식에는 ‘이용자의 성별’과 ‘타시설 이용경험’이 영향을 미치고 있다는 것을 밝혔다. 이러한 만족도 및 인식의 차이를 유발시킨 요인과 타시설 복합유형에 따른 도서관 방문목적 및 불편사항, 복합화 시설의 선호사항 등을 심층 분석한 결과 도서관 위치(층), 개관년도, 도서관의 규모와 기능, 이용자의 도서관 이용목적과 타시설 이용여부가 복합시설 공공도서관의 이용만족도와 인식에 중요한 영향을 미치는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 타시설로 인한 소음, 타시설의 특성 등에 대한 고려도 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 즉, 복합시설 공공도서관이 이용자에게 더 만족할 수 있는 환경과 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 첫째, 도서관을 복합시설의 저층부에 위치시키고 청결한 시설 및 환경관리에 힘써야 한다. 타시설의 결합개수 또한 너무 많지 않도록 계획해야 한다. 둘째, 도서관의 계획ㆍ설계 단계에서부터 규모와 기능이 충족되도록 충분히 고려해야 한다. 셋째, 다양한 연령과 소속이 참여할 수 있는 프로그램과 서비스를 개발하고 복합시설 내 타시설과의 연계 활성화를 통해 도서관 활용을 높일 수 있도록 해야 한다. 넷째, 도서관과 복합할 타시설 고려 시 복합이용의 시너지 효과를 보일 수 있는 타시설을 먼저 고려해야 한다. 다섯째, 타시설로 인하여 발생되는 소음의 영향을 줄이기 위해 층을 나누어 도서관 영역을 구분하여야 한다. 여섯째, 타 시설과 공유할 수 있는 프로그램이나 가족활동이 가능한 프로그램 개발에 힘쓰고 홍보자료를 공동으로 제작하는 등 타시설과 동반적 활동과 발전을 이룰 수 있게 노력해야 한다. 본 연구에서 나타난 이용자들의 만족 평가 및 인식분석에 나타난 내용들은 복합시설 공공도서관의 현 실태를 분석한 자료라는 것에 의의가 있으며, 앞으로 복합시설 공공도서관의 발전적 방향을 모색하는 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.| Since there was a difficulty in finding sites for public libraries with a sharp increase in their number, attention has been drawn to a new form of a public library, that is, a public library in a complex facility constructed in the same building or site with another facility. Of the public libraries in Seoul, as of 2014, out of 132 public libraries, 64, which are almost a half, have been constructed and operated along with other facilities in complexation. Accordingly, a variety of research has been conducted on public libraries in complex facilities, but there have been no studies of analysis or evaluation of the perception or satisfaction of the users who actually using public libraries in complex facilities till now. To get active users’ or local governments’ supports in the public library environment in a new form, it is necessary to understand library users’ expectations, demands, and perceptions exactly and to set up a library operation strategy and a plan for the establishment based on them. Thus, this study analyzed the satisfaction of the users of public libraries in complex facilities with the use of the library and their perception of its complexation. As a result, it was found that most users of public libraries in complex facilities were overall satisfied with human resources, information resources, services, environments and community ties. And for the complexation was found to be recognized as positive. In addition, as a result of an analysis of the impacts of the type of the complex facilities and the difference in the user characteristics on the satisfaction and perceptions of the users of public libraries in complex facilities, it was found that ‘the location of the library (floor)’, ‘the user’s age’ and ‘affiliation’ affected their satisfaction with the libraries, while ‘the user’s gender’ and ‘the experience of using other facilities’ affected their perception of the complexation. As a result of an in-depth analysis of the factors causing the differences in satisfaction and perceptions, the purposes and inconveniences in using the libraries according to the type of the complexation of other facilities and preferences for complex facilities, the location of the library (floor), the year of the opening, and the size and features of the library, the user’s purpose in using the libraries and whether the user uses other facilities had significant impacts on the satisfaction and perceptions about the use of public libraries in complex facilities. In addition, it was found that it would be necessary to consider noise because of other facilities and characteristics of other facilities. In other words, in order to provide the users of public libraries in complex facilities with an environment and service for more satisfaction, first, it is necessary to situate the libraries on lower floors of complex facilities and make efforts to manage the facilities and environment clean. Also, it should be planned, so that there are not too many combinations with other facilities. Second, it is necessary to consider the scale and features of libraries from the stages of planning and designing for meeting them. Third, it is necessary to develop a program and service in which various ages and affiliations can participate and to increase the use of libraries through the vitalization of the link with other facilities in complex facilities. Fourth, when the complexation of a library with other facilities is considered, the facilities that can have a synergy effect on mixed uses should be considered first. Fifth, the domain of libraries should be divided by flooring to reduce the impact of noise generated by other facilities. Sixth, efforts should be made to achieve activities and developments accompanying other facilities, such as the development of a program shared with other facilities and one in which family activities are possible. The results of the review on user satisfaction and the analysis of perception have significant that they are the materials of the analysis of the present condition of public libraries in complex facilities and can be used as materials seeking a developmental direction of public libraries in complex facilities.
