- Abstract
- In order to find out problems and better administrative ways of current national license system for beauty artist , this study sought to categorize said national license system by its characteristics, which is administered in major advanced countries, and deduce actual problems of said system, so that it can provide useful reference materials for improving conventional license system in more specialized ways. to meet the above goals, this study adopted a questionnaire form that gave our respondents questions on what they prepared actually to take license examination and what they considered problems of current license system for beauty artist after enforcement. For the purpose of survey, total 297 sheets of questionnaire form were distributed to unlicensed beginners and licensed beauty care professionals who all completed a required course of national license system and took license examination for beauty care artist. All data collected from the survey were processed and analyzed using a statistic package program called SPSS v.12.0, and were tested at significance level ?? 0.05. As a result, this study could come to the following questionnaire findings only on what should be improved for the said license system: First, in terms of a question item on standardization of manual techniques, it was found that most respondents (45.1%) answered that ?eit is favorable to standardize manual techniques before application.?f Secondly, in terms of a question item on what is reasonably considered unnecessary material for practical examination, it was found that many materials were considered unnecessary without any significant difference in general. Thirdly, in terms of a question item on duration from the end of examination to the announcement of successful candidates, it was found that 96 respondents (32.4%) thought of it as ?every long.?f That is, it was found that most respondents had complaints on long duration till the announcement of successful candidates. Fourthly, in terms of a question item on possibility of customer management immediately after acquisition of license, it was found that most respondents (231; 77.8%) thought it ?eimpossible to manage customers at once.?f Fifthly, in terms of a question item on needs for further study on the advanced course after acquisition of license, it was found that most respondents (247; 83.2%) thought it ?enecessary to enter advanced course.?f Based on the above findings, this study can give the following suggestions for favorable orientation of national license system for beauty care artist : First, it is advisable to define a benchmark of detailed manual techniques and extend their scope into further categories, so that it is useful for actual sites of beauty care practice. Secondly, it is recommended to eliminate or modify unnecessary materials for practical examination, such as stationery, slipper, gown, basket, serving tray, so that applicants can take the license examination with less pressure and controversies. Thirdly, it is advisable to shorten the duration till the announcement of successful candidates for domestic national license examination for skin and beauty care specialists; issue temporary license to successful candidates for license; and specify required units of advanced course or field practice course, so that skin and beauty care industry can be further developed and recognized nationwide. Finally, it is recommended to enlarge the hours of education performed by supervisors on request in the interest of more fairness and reliability of screening.
