Web을 이용한 大學圖書館 情報서비스 模型에 關한 硏究

Abstract

This study is a model of the web-based Academic Library Information Service Systems. The recent development in the information technology has been rapid, which caused changes in the purposes and roles of the academic libraries. This plan aims to provide and effective information services by the Academic Library. For this plan, I analyzed the previous researches and concepts on the Academic Library Information Service Systems. In order to understand the information services in various academic libraries, I also visited and researched each website to see what kind of services are rendered by each of the universities throughout the world. This study is and attempt to build a model for a realistic and effective web-based information services. There have been many changes improvements due to the advancement of information technology and the easier access to the electic resources. Most of the academic libraries are thus changing from the traditional aspects of the resource conservation to the information access into the electric library. The web-based Academic Library Information Services are also changing from the simple reference service to you need some specific examples. This fast paces info-technological development requires the academic libraries to acquire more computers and match the demands of the users. Constructing systematic website that meets the demands and maintaining is more than necessary. The following is what the academic library info system should include in its web-based information service. 1. General Information : mission & history, reserves, electronic reserves, hours of operation, announcements 2. Library Services: hold & return service, interlibrary loan, Full-text information, reserve collection, book store 3. Catalog: search engine, such as, on-line database search, keyword search, etc. 4. On-line Database: international database 5. E-Journal: international science journals and international regular journals 6. Directory: staff introductions, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses sorted by the departments 7. Reference Information: Q&A, FAQ, BBS, SDI 8. Personal Information: renewal & library record view, hold request & view, interlibrary loan request & view, Full-text request & view, personal information management As I have briefly mentioned above, the following information service model will fulfill the roles of the academic library more effectively. 1. Providing the support for the research and lecture for the professors: university library website should provide information on source and access to the resources for professors researches and lectures 2. Creating learning atmosphere for information literacy: web-based info-media should satisfy the demands of the graduate students by providing dissertation related materials, job openings, and study abroad programs, etc. 3. Development and conserving the information resource: thematic on-line database, e-journals, e-books, original database, CD-ROM, references, etc. should satisfy the users. The resource should be professional in depth and delivered effectively. 4. Providing user education program: user-friendly program will enable the user to access the information without the help of the librarians, thus benefiting the individuals information research skill and increasing the effectiveness saving time and effort. 5. Sharing information: networking with other university libraries and other information providers will enable a college library to provide a variety of information. To best utilize the information resource, it is necessary to develop a co-operation program. This will not only satisfy the demands, but also improvement in information providing service. 6. Supplying copyright related information: increased usage of electric resources and information makes it necessary that the users should be supplied with the importance of the copyright. Academic Library Web pages's purpose is and easy access to the information resources for the students and faculties, and non-Academin users as well. However, the information service should take an active initiation to satisfy the demands. To achieve this goal, the academic library should understand the various characteristics of the users and match the service, and develop and accumulate reserve quality information resources.
