소니아 들로네의 패션작품에 표현된 섬유예술성에 관한 연구

Abstract

20세기의 미술의 시작은 사실주의적 표현과 전통적인 원근법 등으로부터 벗어나고자 하는 포비즘의 움직임으로 볼 수 있다. 하지만, 강렬한 색채 이미지를 지향하던 포비즘 이후, 파블로 피카소와 조르쥬 브라크를 주축으로 하는 퓨비즘 경향이 주류를 이루었고. 이 시기 즈음에 소니아 들로네(Sonia Delaunay: 1855-1979)의 연구의 중요한 대상인 오르피즘이 새로운 형태의 양식으로 발전하게 되었다. 원래 오르피즘이란 용어는 그리스 음악의 신(神)인 '오르페우스(Orpheus)'에서 비롯된 말로, 음악에서 악기로 곡을 연주하듯. 색채 언어로 하는 음악적인 표현을 지칭한 말이다. 쉐브렐의 '색채동시대비의 법칙'과 '동시성주의'는 동시적인 시각에서 출발한 소니아 들로네의 작품의 철학과도 같으며, 이는 모두 오르피즘에 근거한다. '색채동시대비'는 색이 인접하여 동시에 놓여질 때 자극간의 차이를 강조하는 것으로써 인접한 색의 명암과 채도, 면적의 변화를 일으키고 서로의 보색간에 더욱 선명한 효과를 일으키게 하는 것이며, 이는 동시성주의와 일맥상통한다고 볼 수 있다. 소니아 들로네는 처음에는 순수예술의 영역에서 회화작품만을 하였으나, 점차 예술과 산업과의 결합을 시도하여 예술을 대중화시킨 중요한 인물이라 할 수 있다. 소니아 들로네는 오르피즘적인 회화작품을 비롯하여, 패션 디자인, 텍스타일 디자인, 무대의상 디자인, 가구 디자인, 벽지 디자인 등 다양한 분야에서 활동을 하였으며, 특히 소니아 들로네의 텍스타일 디자인은 당시 복잡한 패턴의 사실적 묘사에 지나지 않았던 텍스타일 디자인의 분야에 혁신적인 발전을 가져왔다. 이에, 소니아 들로네의 패션작품과 텍스타일 디자인을 통해 그녀가 추구한 작품 경향과 섬유예술성에 대해 연구해보는 것은 큰 의의가 있다고 생각된다. 먼저, 소니아 들로네의 예술적 배경이 된 20세기 회화 중 포비즘, 큐비즘과 오르피즘에 대해 고찰해 보았고, 응용미술 분야로 발전한 아르데코 양식에 대해 살펴봄으로써 소니아 들로네의 패션 작품의 근본적인 원리를 파악할 수 있었다. 또한, 이론적인 배경 및 그 활용된 작품의 대해 분석하였는데, 우선 쉐브렐의 색채동시대비의 법칙과 소니아 들로네의 작품에서 중요시되고 있는 동시성에 대해 구체적으로 연구하여, '동시성'이라는 말이 소니아 들로네에게 쓰여지고 있는 이론적 근거에 대해 고찰하였다. 그리고, 아르데코의 특성 및 전개과정 등에 대한 연구를 통해 소니아 들로네의 작품에 표현된 아르데코 이미지에 대해 분석하였다. 위와 같이, 포비즘, 큐비즘, 오르피즘, 색채동시대비의 법칙, 동시성주의 등 소니아 들로네의 작품의 배경이 된 모든 요소들을 총체적으로 연구·분석함으로써, 소니아 들로네의 텍스타일 디자인의 현대적 감각과 이를 통해 표현하고자 하는 패션작품의 섬유예술적 가치에 대해 새로운 해석을 할 수 있었다. 소니아 들로네의 텍스타일 디자인은 현대에 와서도 꾸준하게 관심을 받고 있는데, 그 이유는 끊임없는 색채에 대한 연구와 자신만의 독특한 철학을 작품에 부여한 소니아 들로네만의 모던한 감각 때문이 아닐까 한다. 21세기의 디자인의 방향을 제시하고 있는 소니아 들로네에 대한 후속 연구가 앞으로도 계속 될 것이며, 소니아 들로네의 예술성 또한 더욱 새롭게 해석되어 질 것이다.|In 1905, Fauvism led the way in the movement of 20c art that attempted to break away from the realistic expression and the traditional technique of perspective. Fauvism pursuing vibrant color images was replaced by Cubism initiated by Picasso and Braque, and Orphism, a major research topic of Sonia Delaunay (1885-1979) was developed into the new style at the time. The word Orphism comes from the Greek word Orpheus, the Greek god of music, so Orphism indicates the musical expression through the color language as the instrument plays the tune in the case of music. Chevreul's 'the law of simultaneous contrast of colours' and 'simultaneity theory' shares the same philosophical view with Sonia Delaunay whose art starts from the simultaneous viewpoint, and both of them are based on Orphism. 'Simultaneous contrast of colours' emphasizes the difference between the stimuli when two different colors are placed side by side simultaneously. One color cause the change in the size, brightness and of the adjacent color, and two complementary colors create more vivid effect, which has a thread of connection with simultaneity theory. In the early stage of her career. Sonia Delaunay created paintings that belong to the category of fine art, but later she attempted to combine art with industrial application. Thus, she made a great contribution to popularize art. Not only did she create Orphism paintings but also she worked in various fields like fashion, textile design, stage design and wallpaper design. In particular, her fashion works and textile designs made a big contribution to the dramatic development of textile industry that, until then, had remained in the stage of simply copying the pattern. This study attempts to investigate the style and the fabric art aesthetics she pursued through her fashion(fashion works and textile design). First, this research takes a look at the artistic background of Sonia Delaunay like Fauvism. Cubism, Orphism and Art Deco to have a better understanding of the fundamental principles of her fashion works. Then, this study attempts to analyze the theoretical background and some of the works created under that theory. First of all, I have studied Chevreul's 'the law of simultaneous contrast of colours' and 'simultaneity' that is emphasized in her works to investigate why 'simultaneity' is so important to Sonia Delaunay. And then, I have explained the characteristics and the history of Art Deco and the trend of fashion, and analyzed Art Deco image expressed in the works of Sonia Delaunay. By investigating and analyzing all of the sources for the background of her works like Fauvism, Cubism, Orphism, 'the law of simultaneous contrast of colours' and 'simultaneity'. I can have a new understanding of the fabric art aesthetics she attempted to express through her fashion works and textile design. The design of Sonia Delaunay is still getting a lot of attention even today. That's because of her steady research on color and her own modern sense that injects her unique philosophy into her works. More researches on Sonia Delaunay who suggested a new direction for 21c design will be performed to provide a new interpretation of her art.
