미니멀리즘을 활용한 화장에 관한 연구
- Abstract
- I have tried to make a definite decision about characters of minimalism through the investigation on background of minimalism's appearance, it's notion, and on structure characters and then examined the interrelation between minimalism's characters notonly understanding generally base and the aesthetic senses reflected in the literatures and remains concerned with the traditional Korea cosmetic from Yi Dynasty to modem times.
Minimal cosmetic escaped from human body's exaggeration and from exessive ornoment instead of stressing natural beauty. Minimalism that pursues simplicity and purity has something in common with the formative beauty of Yi Dynasty traditional cosmetic. Rooting from the traditional idea of the sameness of the spirit and the body, spotless white complexion was highly valued, and it was considered as paramount factor of the beauty. this notion of beauty was reflected in women's daily lives as keeping their face and body neat and clean. This is what we traditionally call 'damjang'(a dressing up of face and body), the very makeup in the traditional sense. On the other hand, there is also an expression called 'yayong'(a gaudy dressing-up of face and body)which refers to the special way of make-up of the professional women called 'Kiseng' and women who severed in the court. These women made their face white by applying white powder and colored their bright red, which were disapproved and distasted by ordinary women.
The beauty of Yi Dynasty women was focused to the face type, which was more spherical than accidental, and added various conditions as the following: white skin, garlic nose and lips red as a cherry, black eyebrow, red cheek. Especially make up for eyebrow was more important than any other part because it creates a totally new shape.
In early 20th century with an enlightened civilization, a new way of make up together with a new word 'whajang' were introduced from Japan, In this new make up technique, women teamed to use cream as a base before using powder.
In 1970, the western style of make up was approved in public and popularized. Especially in 1971, the first pioneering make-up was made toward the cubic effect of the face coupled with its clean-cut feature. Accordingly, the concept of western beauty was introduced to Korean beauty one, which was focused oval face type, wide and round eyes with double eyelid, the Grecian or garlic nose and small lips.
In the 1980, upon the opportunity of 1988 olympic, the bold expression and individuality are encouraged. The spread of the color tv into almost all homes and development of mass media vave resulted in the various and vivid use of color. After the 1990 the concern of health and the natural protection campaign were growing.
Onconclusing I would like to show make up patterns of minimalism cosmetic.
We need to get out of the fixed idea about "old fation" with recreating Korean peculiar traditional mode in modern cosmetic, rediscovering the beauty of cosmetic and the development of inventive modern cosmetic desing and its possibility through taking a triangular position on Korean cosmetic's peculiarity with modern sense based on the similarity between minimalism's characters and that of Korean informativeness.
