1990년대 국내패션에 표현된 미니멀리즘에 관한 연구

Abstract

Fashion and art reflect the spirit of the time, and they change under social and cultural influences. The minimalism is an art style developed in 1960s, and it is a minimal art that expressed an extreme simplicity. The minimalism fashion was popular in 1960s and in 1990s. This thesis studies the formative feature of the minimalism style, and tries to present the foundation for future of domestic fashion development by understanding the connection between fashion and art. The photographs about fashion in the 1990s "Yeosung-Donga" and Korean "Elle" were used to analyze the domestic fashion in 1990s The major conclusions of the study are as follows : 1. The formative feature characteristics of minimalism were expressed as simplicity, minimum, repetition, and futurism. 2. The formative feature characteristics of minimalism in 1990s were expressed as simplicity, minimum, repetition, and futurism as well. Simplicity was shown in silhouette, detail, trimming and color ; minimum was shown in achromatic color, tight clothing and exposed clothing ; repetition was shown in pattern, detail and trimming ; and futurism was shown in high-tech materials, color and shape. 3. Minimalism style and domestic fashion were identified to have a relation in the characteristics of formative feature. In shape and color, simplicity and minimum showed an analogy while repetition and futurism showed a difference in expressing method due to its relation to human body. 4. Simplicity and minimum were expressed in both domestic and international minimalism fashion, but repetition and futurism were less expressed in domestic fashion compared to that of foreign fashion. The similarities and differences of formative feature between domestic and foreign minimalism fashion reflect the korean esthetic consciousness and the state of development in fashion industry. As the trend for environmental consciousness and functional pursuit increases in modern society, the pursuit of simple and terse shape will increase as well. Therefore, I'd like to suggest that the formative feature characteristics of domestic minimalism fashion be used as a base in developing domestic fashion design.
