헤어스타일이 무대분장 완성도에 미치는 영향

Abstract

As the cultural level of people of today has increased, the field of cultural industry also has gone through many development process being accompanied by many changes in related performing arts. Among such performing arts, opera is a genre performed mainly in the medium, large sized theaters as the synthetic art of great scale acquiring various stage decoration and splendid clothes being preferred by many audiences, but its characteristics that delivering stories with singing unlike plays causing insufficient transmission of the contents, ending up the audiences may have difficulty to understand them. Accordingly, the delivery of accurate character of the characters is required preferentially for the understanding of the clear situation and the division of the good and evil demanding the emphasis on visual expression for effective viewing. Thus, makeup designers need to study hair style design in the way of analyzing the background and beauty culture of the times as well as the study on makeup design before entering into the works when they deal with the work of times. Hereupon, the hair style and beauty culture in fashion in Rococo Age applied to the opera Manon Lescault by Puccini which this researcher personally performed an operation were looked into in this study. On the basis of it, this researcher analyzed the face makeup and hair style of the characters to see the influence of the characters' hair style going with the characters' situation on expression of character. Such analysis awakened this researcher the fact that the makeup, hair style should change matching the roles of the players to fulfill the appearance of various characters. But, as the time given for the makeup change is very short in actual performance situation unlike that of audio visual media, the work has to be carried on focusing the change in visually standing out hair style for rapid change of makeup. Therefore, as previous study results showed, the expert in stage makeup should study hair style matching the play to raise the completion level of makeup through accurate character analysis on the roles prior to the work of makeup with the consideration that hair style affects greatly the whole makeup images. In addition, this paper dealt with only opera among many stage performances, but it would be better for the follow-up studies to study hair style more accurately through comparative analysis of more various performance plays.
