프랑스 아방가르드 특성을 응용한 아트메이크업 연구

Abstract

21세기 현대사회는 과학기술의 지속적인 발전과 인터넷에 기반을 둔 닷컴 기업들의 성장 및 물질 만능주의로 인해 문화전반에 걸쳐 형식이나 전통에 구애 받지 않는 자유분방한 표현을 무제한적으로 허용하고 있다. 이러한 흐름은 개개인의 의견과 개성을 중시하는 현대인들의 미적 수준을 끌어올려 메이크업에도 반영되어 창의성을 추구하는 아트메이크업 장르를 형성하게 되었다. 물질적 재료 및 표현기법으로 호소하는 아트메이크업은 조형예술의 한 분야로서 본능적인 인간의 미적 욕구를 충족시켜줌과 동시에 새로운 이미지를 창조하여 표현하는 시각적 예술이다. 21세기의 현대 아트메이크업은 급성장하는 문화산업의 영향으로 기존의 정형화된 아름다움에서 벗어나 작품을 통한 작가의 내면세계를 무언의 메시지로 전달하는 역할로 자리매김하여 복잡해진 인간의 내면가치를 표출하는 수단이 되었다. 대중예술의 지대한 영향을 미치는 매스미디어의 급속한 발전은 아트메이크업에 필요한 재료의 영역 확대 및 표현 방법을 전문화시켰다. 이처럼 급속히 진보하는 현대사회에 살고 있는 현대인들의 미적 욕구를 만족시키기 위해서는 다양한 기법들을 끊임없이 연구하고 개발해야 하는 실정이다. 아방가르드는 ‘깊숙한 곳에 자리한 욕망, 미지의 세계, 이제 막 모습을 드러내기 시작한 갈등, 우리시대의 감춰진 생각’의 뜻을 내포하고 있다. 옛 것에서 벗어나 그 시대의 문화를 반영하고, 지속적으로 새로운 변화를 시도해야만 한다는 점에서 현대 아트메이크업과 일맥상통하다. 따라서 본 연구는 관례적인 예술방식에서 벗어나 어떠한 제약과 형식 따위에도 얽매이지 않고, 다양한 기법과 창의적 발상이 난무하던 20세기의 회화에 주안점을 두어 아방가르드의 특성을 분석하였으며, 그 분석한 내용을 토대로 아트메이크업을 제작하고자 하였다. 이를 통해 아트메이크업을 새롭게 인식시키고, 표현양식을 다양하게 하여 아트메이크업의 영역을 기존보다 확장시키는데 의의를 두었다. 연구의 범위로는 아트메이크업의 유형 및 특성, 표현기법을 각각 세 가지와 다섯 가지로 분류하여 서술하였고, 아방가르드의 발생지이자 예술의 근원지인 ‘프랑스’로 범주화하여 아방가르드의 특성이 가장 두드러지게 나타나던 20세기 회화 범위 안의 ‘야수주의, 입체주의, 파리주의, 추상미술, 초현실주의, 신사실주의’의 총 6가지 운동 유형의 작품들을 중심으로 고찰하였다. 연구방법으로는 국내 문헌 및 선행연구를 통해 아트메이크업과 아방가르드를 고찰하고, 프랑스의 20세기 회화에 나타난 아방가르드의 특성을 접목하여 작품으로 제시한 아트메이크업 및 패션, 뷰티분야의 선행사례를 비교 · 분석하여 본 논문의 이해를 도왔다. 또한, 위에서 언급한 6가지 유형의 대표작품들을 분석하여 나타난 아방가르드의 기법과 다양한 특성을 응용한 총 8점의 독창적인 아트메이크업을 제작하였다. 이론적 고찰과 작품제작을 통해 얻은 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 콜라주 기법으로 제작한 야수파 · 입체파의 작품을 응용한 아트메이크업은 2차원적인 인체 위에 다양한 오브제를 오려 붙임으로써 새로운 의미를 부여하고, 3차원의 입체적인 시각 효과를 주었다. 이렇듯 일상에서 접할 수 있는 간단한 소재만으로 표현 영역이 무한해진다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 개인적인 경험과 종교적 배경을 바탕으로 그린 파리파 마르크 샤갈의 작품 속 비현실적인 이미지들을 응용한 아트메이크업은 원형의 틀 안에서 그의 어린 시절 마을과 뒤섞여 새로운 이미지로 나타났다. 초현실주의적 상상력은 현실 세계와의 만남이라는 테두리 안에서 이미지를 분리하거나 연결시켜 감상자들에게 보이는 것이 전부가 아닌 그 이상의 주관적인 상상력을 불러일으킨다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 장 뒤뷔페의 작품에서 빼놓을 수 없는 우를루프를 응용한 아트메이크업은 정형화된 4가지 색상들과 텍스트 형상만으로 그의 반문화적인 예술적 성향을 표현할 수 있었고, 자유로운 공간 및 새로운 형식으로 선명한 느낌의 앵포르멜적 아트메이크업을 제작할 수 있었다. 또한, 형태에 대해 연구자가 가지고 있던 고정 관념에서 자유로워지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 초현실주의 르네 마그리트 작품에서 나타난 더페이즈망 기법을 응용한 아트메이크업은 두 가지 형태가 보이는 시각적 착시를 유발한 작품으로 입의 본래 고유성을 잃지 않은 채 눈과 융화시켜 겹쳐놓는 방식으로 표현하였다. 이러한 더페이즈망 기법은 인체에 변화를 적용해 전혀 새로운 디자인을 창출시키며, 기발함과 독특함을 갖춘 제 4차원적인 초현실주의 작품세계를 창조시킨다는 것을 알았다. 다섯째, 신사실주의의 대표작가 이브 클라인의 작품을 응용한 아트메이크업 에서는 붓이 아닌 생명력이 있는 신체의 일부분을 도구로 사용함으로써 일반적인 상상적 표현 방식에서 벗어나 손의 질감 및 형상을 즉흥적으로 빠르고 용이하게 표현할 수 있었다. 관념적인 표현형식, 표현도구의 구속력에서 벗어나 인간 행위를 아트메이크업의 범주에 확대시키고 새로운 표현성을 제시해 주었다. 이처럼 20세기 회화 유형의 색깔이 잘 묻어난 작품을 응용하여 아트메이크업을 제작해 본 결과, 관념적 개념을 벗어나 사고의 범위를 확장시켜 주어 현실에는 존재하지 않는 표현성을 탈피함으로써 독창적인 작품의 표현을 가능하게 하였다. 또한, 다양한 기법, 재료 및 도구의 사용으로 표현 가능성을 확장시켜 새로운 디자인의 아트메이크업으로 재탄생 되었다. 따라서 본 연구자는 추후 연구자들에게 필자가 선택하지 않은 또 다른 회화를 응용하여 보다 다양한 방식과 기법을 적용하여 이색적이고 기발한 디자인의 아트메이크업을 창작하는데 도움이 될 수 있는 자료가 되기를 기대해 본다.| Based on constant development of science technology and the internet, materialism and growth of dot-com enterprise is in twenty first century modern society. Therefore, unconventional way of expression became acceptable in overall culture. It improves the modern beauty standard, respecting every person's individuality. Besides, it affects field of makeup, so that creates new genre, referred to as "Art makeup", which pursues creativity. As a part of formative art, it appeals the idea with materials and mediums, and is regarded as visual art, satisfying human instinctive desire of beauty, and creating new image. As mass media which has been affecting public art develop rapidly, materials for art makeup became various and the mediums became specialized. Like this, various medium must always be studied and developed to satisfy modern people's desire of beauty who are living in modern society. progressing rapidly. Avant-garde implies that 'subconscious desire', 'the unknown world', 'conflict, starting to reveal', and 'hidden idea within moderns'. It reflects the culture if the time, turning from the tradition, and has to challenge to new idea. In this context, it must be said that avant-garde and art makeup is in common. Therefore, in this study, it analyze the figure of avant-garde, focusing on twentieth century paintings, which turns from traditional style and various mediums and creativity were acceptable without any limitation and formality, and then produce art makeup based on it. In this way, it gives new impression of art makeup and make the mediums be various, so that attempt to enlarge the field of art makeup. It mentions to three distinctive patterns and characters of art makeup and five mediums. Also it considers art makeup, relating to six notable movements in twentieth century painting, such as fauvism, cubism, parisianism, abstract art, surrealism, specially in French painting. Besides, it presents total eight original art makeup applied various mediums and feature in avant-garde from analysis works representing the six movements in twentieth century art. The study, got through consideration of theory and production of works, runs as follows. First, art makeup, applying fauvism and cubism by making collage, gave new implication by put various objects on two dimensional human body, and three dimensional visual effect. In this way, it is able to express infinitively with simple daily objects. Second, another style of art makeup, applying unrealistic images in works of Marc Chagall, representing prasianism, based on his experiences and religion, presents new image mixed with the village in his childhood. When surrealistic imagination encounters realistic world, it evokes subjective imagination by separating and connecting the images. Third, art makeup, applying Jean Duffet's unforgettable work L'hourloupe, shows his countercultural inclination for art, only with four fixed colors and forms. It allows to produce vivid, informel art makeup with liberal space and anew form. Besides, stereotypes that the researcher had had about the form was gone. Fourth art makeup style, applying depaysement, presented in Rene Magritte's work, attempt to lead an optical illusion. Eyes harmonizes with lips, maintaining the peculiarity of lips, and in this way, both images are overlapped. The medium, despaysement, creates totally different design by making variation on human body, and creates four dimensional surrealism works with something original and peculiar. Fifth is applying neorealism artist, Yves Klein's work. It turns away general expression of imagination, then presents texture and form improvisatorially. That is because it uses a part of body as a kind of makeup tool. It suggests new way of expression and makes even people's action be included in the field of art makeup. In this manner, production of art makeup applying the works, presenting the type of twentieth century painting, makes possible to express creativity by escaping from conceptual idea, and extending thoughts. Moreover, it extends chances to present the idea by using various mediums, materials, and tools, and then improves in art makeup with brandnew design. Accordingly, this study would be expected to help later researchers to create art makeup with brandnew design, applying various ways and mediums with other paintings, not mentioned above.
