퍼머넌트 웨이브 환원제 종류와 로드 크기에 따른 모발 손상도와 웨이브의 형태 비교

Abstract

최근 다양한 온라인 매체의 발달로 현대인들은 미용 관련 정보를 쉽게 접할 수 있고 빠르게 전달되고 있다. 따라서 미용 현장에 방문하는 고객은 모발 손상은 물론 사용하는 제품의 종류와 특징 등 전문적인 정보를 쉽게 얻을 수 있기 때문에 고객의 욕구를 충족시키기 위한 전문가의 정확한 판단과 상담은 필수요소가 되어 가고 있다. 또한 자신의 개성을 표현하기 위해 외모의 변화를 다양한 방법으로 요구 하고 있다.. 이러한 방법 중 퍼머넌트 웨이브는 남녀노소에게 개성을 쉽게 표현할 수 있고 커트의 완성도를 높이면서 결점을 보완하여 이미지를 표현할 수 있으므로 가장 선호하는 방법 중 하나이다. 그러나 잦은 스타일의 변화로 화학적 물리적인 요인에 인한 모발 손상이 함께 문제를 발생시키고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는 최근 현장에서 가장 일반적으로 사용되는 퍼머넌트 웨이브 제품의 티오글리콜산과 시스테인 두 종류의 화학적인 요소와 로드 6호, 로드 8호, 로드 10호를 사용하여 와인딩 작업 하여 물리적인 요소에 대한 모발 손상정도를 비교하기 위해 모표피를 촬영하였고, 컬의 형성과 지속력을 비교하기 위해 시술 직후와 48시간 경과 후 샴푸 10회를 하였으며 그 중 2회, 4회, 6회, 8회, 10회의 웨이브의 형성도를 육안으로 관찰하였고 모발의 전체 길이와 S-웨이브 변화를 측정 하여 그에 따른 변화를 사진 촬영 후 육안 관찰하였다. 관찰한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.

1. 육안관찰 결과 퍼머넌트 웨이브 실험 직후 티오글리콜산이 주성분인 퍼머넌트 제품이 시스테인이 주성분인 퍼머넌트 제품을 사용한 모발보다 웨이브가 탄력 있게 형성되었으나 모발끝부분이 스프링처럼 말아 올라가는 웨이브를 형성하였다. 시스테인 펌 제를 사용한 모발은 간격이 일정하며 자연스러운 웨이브를 형성하였고 두 제품군 모발 모두 로드 6호가 로드 8호보다 로드 8호가 로드 10호보다 늘어지는 컬의 형성을 확인할 수 있다. 티오글리콜산 제품과 시스테인 제품 모두 48시간 경과 후 중성의 샴푸 한 결과 늘어짐의 정도를 육안으로 확연한 차이를 보였으나 2회, 4회, 6회, 10회 샴푸 후에도 육안으로는 확인 할 수 없는 약간의 차이를 보였다. 시술 직후 와 최초 샴푸 시에 웨이브의 형성이 눈에 띄는 변화를 확인 할 수 있었지만 연속된 샴푸에도 웨이브의 형성의 변화가 미미한 것으로 보아 웨이브의 지속력을 체감할 수 있었다.

2. 웨이브의 지속력을 수치화 하여 확인하기 위해 모발 전체 풀 웨이브의 길이와 S-웨이브의 길이를 측정한 결과, 퍼머넌트 웨이브 시술 직 후 와 48시간 경과 후 10회 샴푸 후를 측정 하였을 때 티오글리콜산이 주성분인 퍼머넌트 제품을 사용한 로드 10호가 풀 웨이브는 5.78% 늘어졌으며 S-웨이브의 길이는 10.91% 로 가장 적은 늘어짐을 보이며 탄력적인 컬을 지속했다. 반면 시스테인이 주성분인 퍼머넌트 웨이브 제품을 사용한 로드 6호가 풀 웨이브 11.90%, S-웨이브 27.77%로 웨이브의 지속력이 가장 낮은 형성력을 보였으나 육안으로 확인 했을 때 가장 윤기가 있고 낮은 정전기 발생을 확인할 수 있었다.

3. 퍼머넌트 웨이브 시술에 의한 모발의 손상도 확인을 위하여 전자 현미경으로 관찰한 결과, 퍼머넌트 웨이브 시술 전 모발과 비교 하였을 때 웨이브의 지속력이 가장 높은 티오글리콜산 펌 제를 사용하여 로드 6호로 시술한 모발의 표면이 가장 거칠어져 큐티클 층의 들뜸 현상과 박리, 각화 현상이 두드러지게 보이는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 지름이 작아지는 로드 6호 > 로드 8호 > 로드 10호 순으로 갈수록 웨이브를 위한 와인딩 작업 시 짧은 주기에 회전에 의한 마찰로 물리적인 힘이 가해져 손상도가 높은 것으로 사료된다.

따라서 퍼머넌트 웨이브 시술 후 티오글리콜산 퍼머넌트 제품을 사용한 모발 군에서 웨이브 형성과 지속력이 우수하고 육안관찰과 모발의 표면의 형태와 변화를 종합하면 티오글리콜산 퍼머넌트 제품의 모발 군이 컬의 형성과 지속력은 우수하지만 정전기 발생이나 촉감이 가장 거칠어 건조하게 보였고 시스테인 퍼머넌트 제품의 모발군은 손상도가 적지만 웨이브의 변화율이 크게 관찰 되었다. 하지만 티오글리콜산 펌 제를 사용한 모발 군 보다 자연스러운 웨이브를 형성하였다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 통해서 얻은 결론은 미용 현장에서는 고객이 원하는 웨이브의 형성과 지속력 정도를 고려하고 물리적인 요인과 화학적인 요인 또는 개인의 생리적인 요인과 환경적인 요인 면을 모두 고려하여 이상적인 스타일을 연출 할 수 있도록 충분한 상담이 이뤄져야 하며 전문가에게는 퍼머넌트 웨이브 제품의 선택과 올바른 로드 판단으로 정확한 이해와 판단에 따른 퍼머넌트 웨이브 시술로 원하는 웨이브 형성과 지속력을 유지시키며 모발의 표피층을 조금 덜 손상시키는 퍼머넌트 웨이브 시술을 권장하는 것이 요구된다.

| As various online means have been developed, people today have easy and quick access to information on beauty care. Now that customers who visit beauty care shops have easy access to professional information such as types and characteristics of products and hair damage, correct judgement and counseling of experts that can meet the needs of customers become essential. People today demand beauty care in a various manner in order to express their personality and out of the methods, permanent wave is one of the most preferred methods because it enables people to express their personality easily and remedy their shortcomings. However, frequent changes in style cause hair damaged. In this study, cuticles were photographed in order to compare hair damage for physical elements by using load no. 6, 8 and 10 and chemical elements of thioglycollic acid and cysteine of permanent wave products which are most commonly used. Curls were shampood ten times in order to compare formation and sustaining power of curls immediately after permanent wave and in 48 hours from permanent wave and the formation of wave in second, fourth, sixth, eighth and tenth was observed with naked eyes. In addition, overall length of hair and a change in S-wave were measured and photographed and then observed with naked eyes. Results obtained from the observation are as follows.

1. When observing the formation of wave with naked eyes, it was found that immediately after permanent wave experiment, permanent product whose main ingredient was thioglycollic acid showed more elastic wave than permanent product whose main ingredient was cysteine but formed wave that edge of hair rolled up like a spring. Hair that cysteine perm agent was used showed natural wave that intervals were uniform. For the both products, it was ascertained that curl of load no. 6 was more stretched than that of load no. 8 and curl of load no. 8 was more stretched than that of load no. 10. For the both products, in 48 hours from permanent wave it was ascertained that there was a definite difference in stretching when neutral shampoo was used but there was a slight difference that was no possible to check with naked eyes even after shampoo 2, 4, 6 and 10. Sustaining power of wave was proved because a change in formation of wave was not significant after continuous shampoo though there was remarkable changes immediately after permanent wave and at the time of the first shampoo.

2. When measuring full wave length and S-wave length immediately after permanent wave and in 48 hours from permanent wave in order to ascertain sustaining power of wave, it was found that full wave in load no. 10 that permanent product whose main ingredient was thioglycollic acid was stretched by 5.78% and S-wave length was stretched by 10.91% continuing elastic curl. On the other hand, full wave in load no. 6 that permanent product whose main ingredient was cysteine was stretched by 11.90% and S-wave length was stretched by 27.77% which sustaining power of wave showed the lowest formative power but wave was glossy and static electricity produced little when observing with naked eyes.

3. When observing hair with electron microscope in order to ascertain the hair damage caused by permanent wave, it was found that hair which load no. 6 that thioglycollic acid perm agent with highest sustaining power of wave was used was applied showed rough surface and remarkable excitation, flaking cornification of cuticle layer. Load no. 6 showed the highest damage followed by load no. 6 and load no. 10 due to physical strength caused by friction at the time of winding.

Hair which thioglycollic acid permanent product was applied after permanent wave showed good formation of wave and sustaining power but looked rough and dry and static electricity produced. On the other hand, hair which cysteine permanent product was applied showed little damage but great rate of change in wave. Hair which cysteine permanent product was applied showed more natural wave than hair which thioglycollic acid permanent product was applied .

Therefore, it is necessary for beauty care experts to consider formation and sustaining power of wave which customers want and all factors including physical, chemical, physiological and environmental factors so as to produce ideal style. It is advisable for experts to select permanent wave product and load appropriately and provide permanent wave that can reduce hair surface layer damage.
