컴퓨터 그래픽을 활용한 바디페인팅 디자인 제작 기법

Abstract

바디페인팅은 정형화된 회화의 틀에서 벗어난 시각적으로 표현할 수 있는 여러 가지 기법을 통해 작가가 표현하고자 하는 정신세계와 메시지를 인체에 이미지화하는 것으로 개개인의 감성을 자극하는 창조적인 역할을 수행하는 종합예술의 한 장르이다. 현대에는 바디페인팅이 가지는 주목성과 독창적인 특징과 퍼포먼스를 접목하여 광고나 홍보공연 예술에도 이용하고 있으며, 학문적으로도 이론적 정립, 응용 모티브와 표현기법을 이용한 작품 제작 그리고 다양한 방면에서의 접근과 그에 따른 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 바디페인팅의 작품 제작에 관련한 선행연구로 패턴이나 문양을 응용․적용한 작품 사례는 매우 다양하지만 이는 기존 이미지의 모방과 카피에 머무르는 실정으로 디자인 제작에 관한 미비한 연구에 반해 창의적인 기법과 제작을 통한 새로운 모티브의 제시와 독창적인 디자인을 위한 연구는 의의가 있다고 본다. 바디페인팅의 모티브는 작품의 주제와 완성도를 결정짓는 가장 중요한 매개체로서 본 연구에서는 바디페인팅에 활용될 디자인을 컴퓨터 그래픽을 이용하고 표현주의의 특성을 부여해 제작하고자 한다. 선행연구와 작품 사례 분석을 통해 표현주의 회화가 가지는 왜곡과 확대와 같은 변형과 화려한 색채 대비는 바디페인팅에 적용되었을 경우 인체의 굴곡과 입체감을 부각시키며 주목성과 운동감을 상승시키는 것을 알 수 있었고, 본 연구에서는 변형을 위한 곡선과 강렬한 색채를 이용하였다. 새로운 표현 매체로 등장한 컴퓨터 그래픽을 통하여 표현주의의 특징인 곡선과 색채를 이용한 디자인 제작 과정을 제시하고 만들어진 디자인을 인체에 맵핑으로 적용한 작품 사례 4점을 제시하였다. 사용된 프로그램은 포토샵CS3(Adobe Photoshop CS3)로 Action이라고 하는 자동화 기능을 이용하였다. 연구 결과, 모방과 차용에서 벗어난 독창적인 디자인 방법을 컴퓨터 그래픽을 통하여 제시하였고, 이는 표현주의의 자유롭고 즉흥적인 특성을 띄고 있는 새로운 느낌의 이미지 탄생으로 바디페인팅의 완성도를 높일 수 있는 창의적이고 다양한 디자인 활용이 가능하게 하였다. 컴퓨터라는 도구를 이용하게 됨에 따라 이미지 변형의 무한한 반복과 복제, 추가적인 수정과 보완에 용이한 장점을 누릴 수 있었으며 이미지의 보존과 보관에 편리성을 부각시킬 수 있었다. 이처럼 컴퓨터 그래픽을 통하여 제작된 바디페인팅 디자인은 단일한 카피와 응용의 범주에서 탈피한 창의적의 디자인 제시를 도모함으로써 바디페인팅 디자인 영역 확대의 가능성을 열어주었다. 본 연구를 통해서 창의롭고 개성적인 바디페인팅 디자인 제작 방법과 디자인 영역 확장에 도움이 되고자 하며 컴퓨터 그래픽과 같은 표현 도구의 자유로운 활용과 선택에 기여하길 기대한다. 또한 현대예술에서 바디페인팅의 디자인과 표현 방법이 무한한 가능성을 지닌 영역으로 확대되기를 기대하며 추후 바디페인팅의 학문적 성찰과 활성화에 대한 연구가 더욱 더 많이 이루어져야 할 것이다.| The body painting is an imagification on human bodies in which artist want to express their inner space and messages through several techniques which can be visualized and depart from the standard patterns of painting. It performs creative roles inspiring people and is a genre of composite art. In modern times it is widely used in the parts of advertisement and performing art, regarding its attractiveness of color, creative features and performance. Also in the parts of academic, there are many studies researching its theoretical basis, applied motive and expressive technique. There are many works which is applied to patterns though, most of them are imitation and it causes incomplete studies of design productions. By contrast, some studies which focus on suggesting a new motive and creative designs are significant. As body painting’s motive is the most important medium which determines its subject and degree of completion, for this study, I’ll produce a design with computer graphics and the characters of Expressionism. What I can see in the precedent studies and case analyses is Expressionism’s modification and color contrast such as distortion and expansion can rise attractiveness of color and movement along with characterizing human body’s curves and cubic effect. For this study, I used the curves for modification and loud colors. Using computer graphics, which is becoming a new expression media, I suggest the process of design production which includes curves and colors and then suggest 4 examples that the design is applied to human body. I used Photoshop CS3(Adobe Photoshop CS3) program, automatic function. The result shows computer graphics can suggest the creative way of designing, departing from imitation or borrowing. And it is a new image, which shows free and impromptu characters of Expressionism and it allows people to use creative and various design, increasing the degree of completion. With using computers, it is possible for image modifying to be unlimitedly repeated, duplicated, additionally modified and compensated and it can also bring out the convenience of storing images. The body painting designs, like the ones designed by computer graphics, suggest creative designs, thereby open the door to expansion of body painting designs. I hope that the study would contribute to creative, individual method of design producing and expansion of body painting designs. And also I hope that the study would contribute to freely choosing and using computer graphics as an expression tool. In addition, I expect that it will expand the base of designs and expression ways of body painting as a realm of potentiality in modern art. Finally, It should keep studying academic outcomes and invigoration of body painting.
