의학적 대마사용에 대한 인식조사

Abstract

한국 사회에서 대마사용의 이슈는 2004년 문화·예술인들로부터 국내 대마 정책에 관한 문제와 이의를 계기로 관심을 갖기 시작했다. 국내에서는 대마가 마약류로 분류되어 엄격한 관리와 규제가 강한 편이다. 국내 대마 문제는 문화·예술인들이 대마를 기호품으로 사용하자는 주장으로 사회적 조명을 받았다. 그에 따른 파급력의 우려로 대마와 대마초의 인식은 더욱 부정적인 인식을 갖게 되었다 생각한다. 대마와 대마초의 의학적 효과에 대한 인식은 세계적인 추세에 비해 뒤처져있을 뿐만 아니라 그동안 국내정책과 국민인식에서도 합의점을 이루기 어려웠다. 국외 일부 국가는 대마에서 추출한 성분을 의약품으로 인정하고, 대마와 대마초의 의학적 효능과 효과에 관한 연구가 활발히 전개되는 추세에 비해 국내 대마연구는 상당히 부족한 상태이다. 의학적 대마사용 연구는 암환자 가족으로부터 시작한다. 암의 치료 과정을 지켜보고 겪으면서 진통제와 항암치료제의 부작용을 억제하기 위해 많은 약의 처방에 의지하는 국내의 암치료현실에서, ‘의학적 대마사용’은 획기적이고 새로운 치료법으로 생각한다. 대부분의 암 환자 중에서 외과적 수술이 어려운 환자들은 커다란 항암치료제와 영양제를 매달고 다니면서 섭식장애로 고생하며, 하루하루 힘겹게 암과 싸우고 있다. 영양을 잘 섭취하지 못하고 소화 기능의 저하로 체중감소를 겪고 있으며, 오랜 병상 생활 탓에 근육의 손실로 잘 움직이지 못하는 암환자와 보호자에게 이 논문을 통하여 조금이나마 힘을 주고자 한다. 대마의 의학적 사용에 관해 국내 암환자와 보호자의 인식조사를 통해 치료제로서 인정받고 있는 대마의 국내정책에 관한 점검과 합리적인 방법을 찾아보고 대마의 의학적 임상적 사례와 우려의 목소리를 객관화하여 대마의 의학적 사용에 관한 국내문제를 점검하고 합리적 방안을 모색하고자 한다. |The use of marijuana arose as a controversial issue in Korean society after cultural artists posed questions regarding the domestic marijuana policy in 2004. In Korea, marijuana is categorized as drugs, thus subjected to strict control and regulation. Social awareness regarding the use of marijuana arose as many artists started using it. The general perception towards marijuana was negative due to its influence and potential ripple effect. Although it is undeniable that understanding of marijuana and its medical effects is behind international standards, it would have been difficult to find a middle ground between domestic policy and citizens’ awareness. Domestic research on marijuana is far behind compared to other countries where studies on marijuana and its medical effects are active and thee extracted components from marijuana are approved as medicine. During this research, access to information, research materials and policies regarding marijuana were limited, calling for a need to establish an independent institute dedicated to drugs. Currently, domestic narcotic control conducts investigations by Public Prosecutor’s office, National Police Agency and Korea Customs Service, and merely follows the recommendations by UNODC(United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime). In U.S.A, DEA(Drug Enforcement Administration) deals with drug investigations and policies. With medical marijuana becoming a social issue in Korea, independent drugs investigation institute like DEA needs to be established for a consistent drug investigation system.

Medical marijuana research started from a family with cancer. Use of medical marijuana was considered as innovative as the other alternative consisted of taking various medications to control the side effects of painkillers and cancer treatments. Non-surgical patients suffer from eating disorders, decline in digestive functions, and loss of muscles due to medical treatments. This paper wishes to offer words of encouragement to those cancer patients and their families.

This paper aims to inspect domestic policy on medical marijuana through surveys on cancer patients and their families, inspect domestic problems on use of medical marijuana, and seek reasonable solutions through clinical examples and opinions.
