음식물쓰레기에서 이물질 구별을 위한 딥러닝 적용에 관한 연구

Abstract

There is something that has increased with the rapid development of modern society into industrialization. Those are all kinds of household waste and food waste around us. Moreover, due to COVID-19, which began at the end of 2019, social distancing has led to more time indoor activities than outdoor ones for nearly two and a half years. As a result, the food delivery culture has developed and disposable containers and food waste have increased. Disposal of food has become a social issue because it is included in the food waste that we inadvertently throw away. The foreign objects in the food waste that are mixed and discarded in this way must be collected by someone during the recycling process. For this purpose, food waste resource conversion facilities are installed and the refined food waste usually are used for composting and feeding. The main purpose of waste recycling is to reduce costs and protect the environment by reducing food waste. However, maintenance costs are increasing due to facility damage caused by foreign objects in the food waste filtering and collecting process. In fact, these problems can be easily solved by using food handlers that can be used at home, which are often seen in TV commercials these days. However, there is a real problem. Most of the pulverized food handlers are sink-installed disposals, which is a method of pulverizing food first and discharging food treated secondarily. However, there is an illegal controversy because the nation's sewage law prohibits the discharge of more than 20 percent of pulverized food into sewage. And also other products are controversial due to the burden of filter costs, electricity bills, and odor problems. Therefore, this study recognizes these problems and attempts to solve them by using a deep learning model to classify foreign objects in food waste. In order for the experiment for learning process, all the public data was collected through AI Hub, an open data site. We tried to find the optimal model through comparative analysis by applying it to various models of deep learning. Based on the collected data, three models of image-based classification algorithms VGG, ResNet, and EfficientNet of deep learning were selected. The experimental method is as follows. First, the image of household waste is tested after learning and verifying. Usually the data classified as household waste images were actually decomposed and mostly mixed with food waste, so the comparative measurement was to learn, verify, and test with similar images obtained through data growth and transfer learning. Six classification models were created for each algorithm to measure the classification accuracy of the test data of each data set. The EfficientNet model was the most accurate through the two experimental measurements, and the final measurement was not higher than the entire image, but the accuracy was not much different from the partial image, although it was much higher than the partial image. Based on the above results, the proposed idea in this paper would be used to classify foreign objects in collection centers and private facilities. It is expected that workers at collection centers would show high productivity and also automation systems for recycling resources would be deployed quickly with better working environments and safe working and stable facilities. And it could be expected that we can greatly contribute to carbon neutralization if we can recycle resources by separating and operating systematically.|현대 사회가 급속하게 산업화로 발전하면서 함께 증가하는 것이 있다. 다름 아닌 우리 주변의 각종 생활폐기물과 음식물쓰레기일 것이다. 더욱이 지난 2019년 말부터 시작된 코로나19로 인해서 근 2년 반 동안 사회적 거리두기로 야외 활동보다는 실내에서 활동하는 시간이 많아졌다. 그러다 보니 배달 음식문화가 발달하였고 배달 음식을 통해 일회용품 용기들과 버려지는 음식물쓰레기들이 증가하고 있다. 버려지는 음식물에는 우리가 무심코 버리는 생활폐기물과 함께 포함되어 버려져 사회적으로 이슈화되고 있다. 이렇게 혼입되어 버려진 음식물쓰레기 이물질은 재활용 과정에서 누군가 선별하여야 한다. 이를 위해서 음식물쓰레기를 처리하기 위한 자원화 처리시설을 설치하여 음식물쓰레기를 활용한 퇴비 및 사료화로 이용하고 있다. 우리가 음식물쓰레기를 줄여서 비용 절감과 환경보호를 하는 것이 목적인데 오히려, 음식물쓰레기 이물질 선별 작업과 선별과정에서 이물질로 인한 설비파손으로 유지보수비용 등이 증가하고 있다. 사실 이러한 문제를 요즘 TV 광고에서 많이 나오고 있는 가정에서 사용할 수 있는 음식물처리기로 하면 쉽게 해결할 수 있다고 한다. 하지만, 현실적인 문제가 있다. 분쇄형 음식물처리기는 싱크대 설치형이 대부분인데 이는 1차로 음식물을 분쇄하고 2차로 처리한 음식물을 배출하는 방식이다. 하지만, 우리나라 하수도법에 따르면 분쇄된 음식물을 20% 이상 하수도로 배출하는 것을 금지하기 때문에 불법 논란이 있다. 그 외 제품들은 필터 비용부담, 전기료, 악취 문제 등으로 논란의 여지가 있기에 사용에 제한이 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 인식하고 음식물쓰레기 이물질 구분을 위하여 딥러닝 모델을 활용하여 해결하고자 한다. 음식물쓰레기 이물질 구분을 위한 데이터를 위한 실험을 위해서 공개데이터 사이트인 AI 허브를 통해서 공공데이터 수집하였다. 딥러닝의 여러 모델에 적용하여 비교 분석을 통해서 최적의 모델을 찾고자 하였다. 수집된 데이터를 바탕으로 딥러닝의 이미지 기반 분류 알고리즘 VGG, ResNet, EfficientNet 3가지 모델을 선택하였다. 실험방법은 일차적으로는 생활폐기물 이미지에 대한 학습 및 검증을 한 뒤 테스트하고, 2차는 생활폐기물 이미지로 분류한 데이터가 실제 음식물쓰레기 이물질은 부패하고 또한 음식물쓰레기와 섞여 있는 이물질이 대부분인데 이에 대한 신뢰성 문제가 제기될 수 있어 이에 대한 비교 측정으로 음식물쓰레기 이물질 이미지와 데이터 증식, 전이 학습을 통해서 얻은 유사한 이미지로 학습 및 검증, 테스트하여서 두 실험을 통해 우수한 알고리즘 모델을 선택하여 최종적으로 실제 집하장 이미지로 테스트하고자 하였다. 각 알고리즘별 6개의 분류 모델을 만들어 각 데이터셋의 테스트 데이터의 분류 정확도를 측정하였다. 두 실험 측정을 통해서 EfficientNet 모델이 가장 정확도가 높았고, 이를 바탕으로 집하장 이미지로 최종 측정을 한 결과 전체 이미지보다는 높지 않았지만, 부분 이미지보다는 월등히 높은 정밀도, 재현율, F1 스코어를 나타냈지만, 정확도는 부분 이미지와 별반 차이가 없음을 나타냈다. 본 연구에서 위 결과를 근거로 집하장 및 민간시설에서 음식물쓰레기 이물질 구분에 활용할 것을 제안하며, 이를 통해서 집하장에서 근무하는 작업자들이 보다 나은 근무환경과 안전하게 근무하고 안정화된 설비로 재활용 자원에 있어 높은 생산성과 자동화시스템이 빠르게 도입될 것으로 기대된다. 또한, 이산화탄소를 배출하는 음식물쓰레기를 우리가 분리배출을 잘하고 이를 체계적으로 운용하여 자원 재활용을 할 수 있다면 탄소 중립화에 크게 기여할 수 있다고 기대된다.
