Abstract
People, who live in the current digital environment, are apt to bodily sense a change into digital environment. However, in the middle of the slowly changing environment socially and culturally, we are gradually broadening its range while accepting and using new digital environment.
Out of it, the expansion in the ultrafast internet and wireless internet had great influence upon providing users with new lifestyle by which mobile phones or portable devices get access to network based on internet. This network connection implemented ubiquitous environment and brought about environment of transcending life, which had been restricted temporally and spatially.
As the existing analog environment got digitalized, people approached the behavior, which had been done, with new direction. As for digital camera, digital broadcasting, and digital radio, the intention of being acted by a person and the final result are same as the existing analog system, but came to be different in stage of process. In case of digital camera, it is same in the fundamental intention and behavior, which takes a picture first and appreciates the output result, but is different in process. This shortening in process brought about temporal and spatial profits amid our life. A change into digital system, which brings about convenience of lift in this way, is gradually expanded into more articles, thereby possessing the majority around us.
Digital made it available for easily managing what general people couldn't enjoy universally in the past, along with convenience. One out of it is digital music. Digital sound source, which had been used once only in a place of using high-priced equipment like studio or broadcasting station, was generalized and universalized in the middle of this digital flow. Behavior of listening to music is hedonic activity of people familiar to us equally with the past. It is the same method that this behavior is delivered finally to ear through sound, but was much varied the behavioral method in the middle stage.
According to a rise in the supply rate of ultrafast internet and PC, the sound source, which was manufactured with file format, brought about effect of diffusion. According to a change of tangible media into intangible, the goods necessary for production reduced. According to reduction in cost for middle distribution, the sound source came to be supplied to consumers cheaply.
Digital music industry made new environment. What purchases intangible media through online and plays this with diverse methods is being shown the consumption behavior and utilization method, which came to be different from the existing 1-medium and 1-possession method. The supply of MP3 player is one of digital devices of reflecting this current trend. Convergence with independent or other device led to expansion in digital music market.
Based on this trend, consumers allowed PC-fi of using computer to be born in the existing Hi-Fi market. PC-fi is being spread quickly among netizens unlike the past Hi-fi market owing to cheap price level and easy installation. However, as digital music, which is made with file format, is a form of being managed on the basis of computer, a help of computer is needed certainly for shift, deletion, and listening to file.
This study proposed ‘M-Basecamp’ in order to solve the inconvenience of PC-fi, which is quickly spread among netizens in this way, and consumers' potential needs. As ‘M-Basecamp’ is a device of managing sound source, which was optimized for digital music, it is new convergence device available for functions such as listening, shift, and deletion in music without booting computer. This is new device that was optimized for digital sound source available for coping with source device connected complexly with the existing media.
Convergence in the existing portable-device period was made briskly, thereby having been rapidly developed. This study is expected to lead to allowing advantage in digital environment to be managed by being made convergence even among products of using digital sound source indoors.
