Abstract

As the per capita gross national income of Korea has reached USD 30,000, levels of income have improved. Due to this, people got to enjoy material wealth and ave time on their side and consumption pattern has changed. People got to seek individuation beyond the age that they satisfy products' functions. For their houses, they got to aim for value consumption changing them according to their lifestyles. In case of residential culture, consumers' demand for products that can their lifestyles have increased as lease and monthly rent have been of greater importance as single-member and two-member households have done. Due to this, overseas global lifestyle shops have entered Korea and many lifestyle shops have also expanded their stores in Korea. Accordingly, building brand identity is an important point differentiated from other brands in the face of stiff competition. This is simply insufficient by products' own competitiveness and is closely connected to VMD. VMD increases brand image, produces and manages all the visual elements of stores as well as products as the differentiated strategy from other companies, and presents the efficient composition of stores. And it is the very effective strategy for building brands' unique identity and competitiveness. For lifestyle shops, the consumers that they aim must be comparatively certain. As the production and display methods of VMD in stores depend on the products sold by brands in the process to suggest VMD, the characteristics of brands and products must exactly be understood. In case of high priced brands, the method to suggest VMD by increasing the value focuses on image-centered production rather than simple display of products to deliver the products and brands' image. On the other hand, in case of low-priced brand products, a lot of IP display space for selling products without VP or PP production space are required to increase sales effectiveness at a low cost according to stores. Therefore, as the cost differentiation strategy through VMD is needed, the spatial composition of VMD in lifestyle shops was compared by classifying comparative and analytical criteria for applying case analyses into the high price, the middle price, and the low price. This study tries to suggest the spatial composition of VMD in effective and competitive lifestyle shops by reviewing the results that analyzed the spatial composition of VMD focusing on cost differentiation of lifestyle shops located in Garosu-gil Road. The spatial characteristics were analyzed through the checklist study with VMD factors after the theoretical review about lifestyle shops and spatial components of VMD through literature review and precedent studies. Based on the checklist extracted from the on-the-spot survey and precedent studies, the researcher directly visited the 6 places selected as the subjects of the case survey and conducted a survey targeting the customers who actually experienced space. The survey was conducted two times. 300 copies by case and the total 180 copies were used as the analytical materials. For the analysis of the survey that used five-point scale, the collected data were analyzed by utilizing SPSS 12.0 Program and the conclusions were drawn. First, in case of high priced brands of lifestyle shops, high reliability of VMD factors must be obtained as PP production space, the spatial component, is vitalized. In case of high-priced lifestyle shop brands, PP production space must clearly deliver image and connected sales of composed products must be done by suggesting specific lifestyles to customers. Second, in case of middle-priced brands of lifestyle shops, it is important to create environment to promote sales by dividing PP production space and IP display space, the spatial components into each other to be the same proportion of store area. In case of middle-priced lifestyle shop brands, space must be composed to be proper to make consumers understand products recommended by brands in PP production space and select products focusing on functionality in IP display space close to it. Third, in case of low-priced brands of lifestyle shops, functionality of VMD factors must be high as IP display space, the spatial component, is vitalized. And it is important to compose stores to make consumers look at products easily. Based on functionality, products must be placed on furniture. Display must play a role of delivering information to consumers, not display for selling products simply. Products in the same categories have found to be connected to purchase when customers can compare their functionality, designs, and prices with one another. Fourth, products must have the characteristics to be very much in fashion, the VMD component, in order to arouse customers' interest in VP production space, the spatial component of lifestyle shops, and induce them to the inside of stores. It is important to suggest the characteristics to be in fashion by utilizing background and interior decoration suitable for each season in VP show window. Fifth, products must have high reliability about them, the VMD factor, in order to promote sales by production in PP space, the spatial component of lifestyle shops. It is important to suggest products to make reliability about products and purchasing needs high by grasping information recommended by brands easily. Sixth, Functionality and harmony, the VMD factors, must be high in order to make customers grasp the products that they want easily in IP display space, the spatial component of lifestyle shops and lead them to purchase them. The quantity of products displayed on furniture must be appropriate, they must not be complicated but harmonious when comparing and select them. This study could be found that VMD spatial components must be utilized in different ways focusing on cost differentiation by brand of lifestyle shops. In the future, lifestyle shops that develop according to distribution environment and consumers' consumption pattern must continue to change. In the next studies, continuous studies focusing on detailed spatial components are thought to be required by applying VMD factors to them. | 우리나라 1인당 국민총소득이 3만 달러 시대에 들어서게 되면서 소득의 수준이 향상되었다. 그로 인하여 물질적인 풍요와 시간적 여유가 생기게 되었고, 소비의 형태에도 변화가 생겼다. 상품의 기능에 만족하는 시대를 지나 개성화를 추구하게 되었으며, 집도 자신의 라이프스타일에 따라 변화시키며 가치소비를 지향하게 되었다. 주거문화의 경우에도 1~2인 가구가 증가함에 따라 전, 월세의 비중이 늘어나면서 소비자는 자신의 라이프스타일을 나타낼 수 있는 상품에 대한 요구가 증가하였다. 그로 인해 국내에 해외 글로벌 라이프스타일 샵이 진출하였고, 우리나라에서도 다수의 라이프스타일 샵이 매장을 확대시키고 있다. 이에 따라 치열한 경쟁 속에서 브랜드 아이덴티티의 구축은 타 브랜드와 차별화되는 중요한 요점이다. 이는 단순하게 상품 자체적인 경쟁력으로는 부족하며 VMD전략과 밀접한 관련이 있다. VMD는 브랜드의 이미지를 높이고 타 기업과의 차별화 전략으로써 상품을 비롯하여 매장의 모든 시각적 요소를 연출, 관리하여 효율적인 매장구성을 제시한다. 또한 브랜드 고유의 아이덴티티와 경쟁력을 구축하기에 매우 효과적인 전략이다. 라이프스타일 샵은 목표한 고객이 비교적 확실해야 하며, 브랜드에서 판매하는 상품에 따라 매장의 VMD 연출, 진열 방법이 달라지므로, 브랜드와 상품의 특징을 정확하게 이해해야 한다. 고가의 브랜드 상품의 경우 가치를 높여 VMD를 제안하는 방법으로 상품과 브랜드의 이미지를 전달하기 위해 상품의 단순한 진열보다는 이미지 중심의 연출에 중점을 둔다. 한편 저가의 브랜드 상품의 경우 적은 비용으로 높은 판매효과를 위하여 매장에 따라서는 VP 연출 공간 또는 PP 연출 공간 없이 판매를 위한 IP 진열 공간만을 운영하는 경우가 있다. 따라서 가격대 차별화를 중심으로 VMD공간구성 연구를 위해 사례분석대상지를 고가, 중가, 저가로 구분하여 라이프스타일 샵의 VMD공간구성을 비교하였다. 본 연구에서는 신사동 가로수길에 위치한 라이프스타일 샵의 가격대 차별화를 중심으로 VMD의 공간구성을 분석하고 결과를 고찰하여, 이를 통해 효과적이며 경쟁력 있는 라이프스타일 샵의 VMD를 제안하고자 한다. 문헌 조사와 선행연구를 통하여 라이프스타일 샵과 VMD의 공간구성요소에 대한 이론적 고찰을 한 후, VMD 구성요인을 통한 체크리스트 연구를 통하여 공간의 특성을 분석하였다. 현장조사 및 선행연구를 바탕으로 추출된 체크리스트를 통해 사례 조사 대상지로 선정한 6곳을 직접 방문하여 실제로 공간을 체험한 고객들을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 설문조사는 총 2번에 걸쳐 실시하였으며, 사례별 30부, 총 180부를 분석 자료로 사용하였다. 5점 척도를 사용한 설문 분석은 SPSS 12.0 프로그램을 활용하여 수집된 데이터를 분석하고 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 라이프스타일 샵의 고가 브랜드의 경우 공간구성요소인 PP의 연출 공간이 활성화되어 VMD 구성요인의 신뢰성이 높아야한다. 고가의 라이프스타일 샵 브랜드의 경우 PP 연출 공간에서 이미지를 명확하게 전달하며, 고객에게 구체적인 라이프스타일을 제안하여 구성상품의 연계 판매가 이뤄지게 해야 한다. 둘째, 라이프스타일 샵의 중가 브랜드는 공간구성요소인 PP의 연출 공간과 IP의 진열 공간이 매장 면적의 동일한 비율로 배분하여 판매를 촉진시키는 환경을 만드는 것이 중요하다. 중가의 라이프스타일 샵 브랜드의 경우 소비자가 PP의 연출 공간에서 브랜드의 추천제품을 파악하고 근접해 있는 IP 진열 공간에서 기능성을 중심으로 상품을 선택하기 적절하게 구성되어야 한다. 셋째, 라이프스타일 샵의 저가 브랜드의 경우 공간구성요소인 IP의 진열 공간이 활성화되어 VMD 구성요인의 기능성이 높아야하며 보기 쉬운 매장을 구성하는 것이 중요하다. 기능성을 바탕으로 상품을 집기에 배치해야하고, 단순하게 판매를 위한 진열이 아닌 고객에게 정보전달을 하는 역할을 지녀야한다. 같은 카테고리의 상품이더라도 고객이 기능, 디자인, 가격을 비교 할 수 있어야 구매로 이어지게 되는 것을 알 수 있다. 넷째, 라이프스타일 샵의 공간구성요소인 VP 연출 공간에서 고객의 흥미를 높이고 매장 내부로 유입시키기 위해서는 VMD 구성요인인 유행성이 높아야한다. VP 연출 공간의 쇼윈도에서 각 시즌에 적합한 배경과 소품을 활용하여 유행성을 제안하는 것이 중요하다. 다섯째, 라이프스타일 샵의 공간구성요소인 PP 공간에서 연출을 통해 판매를 촉진시키기 위해서는 VMD 구성요인인 신뢰성이 높아야한다. 브랜드 추천 상품의 정보를 고객이 쉽게 파악하여, 상품에 대한 신뢰도를 높이고 구매욕구가 높아지게 제안하는 것이 중요하다. 여섯째, 라이프스타일 샵의 공간구성요소인 IP 진열 공간에서 고객이 원하는 상품을 쉽게 파악하고 판매로 이어지기 위해서는 VMD 구성요인인 기능성과 조화성이 높아야한다. 상품을 비교, 선택할 때 집기에 진열된 상품의 수량이 적당하며, 번잡하지 않고 조화성을 통해 이미지를 제안하는 것이 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 라이프스타일 샵의 가격대 차별화를 중심으로 브랜드마다 VMD 공간구성요소를 다르게 활용해야 하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 앞으로도 유통환경과 소비자들의 소비 형태에 따라 발전하는 라이프스타일 샵은 꾸준히 변화하여야 할 것이다. 향후 연구에서는 세부적인 공간구성요소를 중심으로 VMD 구성요인을 적용하여 지속적인 연구가 필요할 것으로 사료된다.
