Abstract

I focused the purpose of this study on exploring the values which middle and high school students have in their minds, and on searching the conscious inclinations on which their activities-their life-style and way of thinking depend. I have prepared logic foundations for this study by rummaging through lots of previous studies-literatures and treatises concerned-to get the guideline I can steer this work into proper line. The logic foundations showed me to the way how I can lead this work. I cinched several considerations as to how different the sub-variables are which forms respectively according to the resident district, the sex, and the schooling of the students. To have the right responses for such considerations, I established the following hypotheses, which I based on some others' studies. *Hypothesis I. Depending on whether their resident district is rural or urban, there will be statistically meaningful difference in their values on (a) self-conceptional view, (b) familial view, (c) societal view, (d) economical view, and (e) national view. *Hypothesis II. Depending on whether their sex is male or female, there will be statistically meaningful difference in their values on (a) self-conceptional view, (b) familial view, (c) societal view, (d) economical view, (e) national view. *Hypothesis III. Depending on whether their schooling is junior or senior, there will be statistically meaningful difference in their values on (a) self-conceptional view, (b) familial view, (c) societal view, (d) economical view, (e) national view. To have secure verification of the above three hypotheses I made a list of questionnaire which I can measure the values these students may embrace. 840 questionnaires were distributed to be answered by as many students, whom I equally divided into two separate groups/rural and urban and sub-divided into middle and high school by regional groups and sexual groups, and half of them belonged to Namyangju-gun School District, Keyngkido, and the rest were in the 8th School District(Kangnam-gu & Kangdong-gu) of Seoul. I recollected them minus 40 incomplete sheets and I made 800 sheets of the object of my research. I compiled statisticts using X(Chi-square) method. The result came to this. H - I (a) (b) (d) (e), H - II (a) (b) (d) (e) and H - III (b) (c) (d) (e) proved to be positive, but H - I (c), H - II (c) and H - III (a) turned out to be negative.
