報勳對象者 老後福祉施設의 改善方案에 關한 硏究

Abstract

While patriots and veterans become older, their welfare needs become more diversified and demanding as people's living level increases. Under such circumstances, the purpose of this study is to review the operation and problems of the welfare facilities for aging patriots and veterans and thereby, suggest the solutions to meet their diversifying needs and improve their life quality. To this end, relevant literature and preceding studies were reviewed and thereupon, the residents of the patriots' and veterans' welfare town were surveyed. The reform measures for the welfare facilities for aging patriots and veterans can be suggested as follows; First, it is necessary to publicize the patriots' and veterans' recreation facilities and improve their inconvenient site conditions. Second, it is also necessary to estimate the demands for the residential facilities exactly and build them more so that the beneficiaries may not wait long to be accommodated. Third, it is essential to open the patriots' and veterans' welfare facilities to the community people and thereby, enhance the spirit of community between facilities and community for mutual development and use them as arenas for discussion of the community problems. Fourth, it is deemed necessary to diversify and enhance the facilities so that people's perception of them may improve. Fifth, the volunteer service system and the sponsorship need to be utilized positively. Sixth, it is necessary to develop and activate the service programs. Patriots' and veterans' decent retirement life may invoke young generations' respect of the elderly and their patriotism to encourage them to sacrifice themselves for nation and people. The aged patriots' and veterans' problems are not only theirs but ours. Families, society and nation are obliged to praise their spirit of sacrifice and respect them, while allowing them to live a honorable retirement life.
