老人 晝間保護 서비스 改善方案
- Abstract
- The purpose of study is to survey elderly people's uses of and satisfaction with their daycare facility services and thereupon, suggest reform measures to improve the services. The results of this study can be summarized as follows;
First, in view of the demographic variables, female users accounted for 55.1% (81 persons), while those aged between 60 and 64 were 39 (26.5%). 57 persons (38.8%) had never attended school, and 33 persons (22.4%) finished only the elementary course; a total 77.6% of the subjects had the academic background lower than middle school. On the other hand, 63 persons (42.9%) had no religion, and 42 persons (28.6%) were Christians, while 24 persons (16.3%) were Buddhists. The majority (53.1%) of the subjects had their spouses passed away, while 40.8% (60 persons) had spouses. Only a half the elderly couples (30 persons) lived alone, and 81 persons (51.1%) of the subjects lived with their son's families.
Second, as a result of surveying how the elderly users came to use the daycare facilities, it was found that 42.9% had been encouraged by their grownup children to use the facilities. On the other hand, 105 persons (71.4%) answered that they were using the facilities for their health.
Third, it was found that users' residences were not much far away from the daycare facilities. 71.4% of the subjects were using the shuttle buses. On the other hand, 79.6% of the elderly subjects visited the facilities almost every day. 44.9% of those who could not use the facilities frequently answered that they could not visit the facilities frequently because they were ill. 108 persons (73.5%) were found to bear the cost for using the facilities with the stipend from their children. 63.5% of the subjects responded that they were using the facilities almost all day long.
Fourth, 81 persons (55.1%) answered that they were very much satisfied with the daycare facilities and their environments, 24 persons (16.3%) said that they were satisfied to some degree: in all, 71.4% of the subjects were more or less satisfied with the facility services, which seems to be relatively high.
Fifth, as a result of analyzing the differences of satisfaction depending on democratic variables, the significant differences of satisfaction were found depending on almost all democratic variables but gender: age, academic background, religion, marital status, living with children or not.
Sixth, in view of users' satisfaction depending on program types, "physical therapy and health check" program scored highest (4.58 on average), followed by exercise (4.36), counselling service (4.32), social life (3.89) and word/figure game (3.85) in their order.
Seventh, 73.4% of the elderly subjects were more or less satisfied with the overall service programs, while 26.5% felt that the services were not unusual. Any way, elderly users' satisfaction with the daycare facilities is very high.
Eighth, users' satisfaction with the facility services differed on their demographic variables except religion: gender, age, academic background, marital status, and living with children or not.
Based on the above findings, the following reform measures are put forwards to improve the daycare facility services for the elderly people;
First, the daycare facility service programs should be improved by referring to users' needs. Second, the services need to be differentiated in terms of programs and cost. Third, health check services should be reinforced. Fourth, more recreational programs should be developed. Fifth, programs designed to relieve the elderly users of sense of loneliness or alienation should be operated. Sixth, more P.R. activities should be staged together with the expanded community services.
