구술기록 색인용어의 일관성과 망라성에 관한 연구

Abstract

In the earnest 2000s, as oral history studies began to grow up, archival research also grew. however, most of them were methodologies of arrangement and description to oral history archives, which were far from structured and searched for contents of oral history archives. besides, while most of the oral history organization compile indexes on oral history archives, but there is no studies have been conducted to complied index whether has their full performance or fulfill the basic requirements. this study is started from intended to suggest ways to improve the indexing of oral records. To suggest ways to improve the indexing of oral history archives, the consistency and exhaustivity of index terms were examined around ‘The Academy of Korean Studies’. Based on the results of the literature study, the current status of oral history archives indexing of 'the Academy of Korean Studies' was investigated, and the consistency and exhaustivity of index terms were analyzed to prepare indexing improvement measures and indexing guidelines. First, the literature study focused on the definition and characteristics of oral history archives, the type and definition of oral history archives search tools, the definition, and function, consistency, and exhaustivity of the index. Second, Based on the results of the literature study, the current status investigation and analysis were conducted on the oral records index of ‘the Academy of Korean Studies’. To identify the current status and characteristics of the oral records index, the form of the index, the service method, and the production method of the index were identified. Currently, the index of oral history archives of ‘the Academy of Korean Studies’ is compiled in the form of keywords, so the functions of the index cannot be fulfill performed, and the indexers of oral history archives are writing index term their own rule. Third, consistency analysis for 27 oral history archives and 1,404 index words at the Academy of Korean Studies based on the research methodology of Sobak (2017). The sectoral consistency, inter-indexer consistency, and intra-indexer consistency were recognized through the number of index term in individual oral history archives, the average number of index term, the distribution of index term types, the time per index term, and the frequency of use of index term, index synonym, index error. It was found that the index term of oral history archives was written in an inconsistent in each discipline and that the index term was written in an inconsistent among the same indexer. Fourth, the analysis of the exhaustivity of the index term of oral history archives was conducted by identifying the perspective and importance of the 3 oral history archives and 189 index terms. The type, quantity, and frequency of appearance of term extracted using morphological analyzer were compared to the type, quantity, and frequency of appearance of term indexed in the oral history archives of the Academy of Korean Studies. Fifth, indexing improvement measures and indexing guidelines were presented based on research results. Guidelines for indexing, training for indexer, and expert indexer was compiled index instead of the non-expert. In the case of oral record indexing instructions, it was suggested to prevent errors in the binoculars and symbols and to enable preparers to create a consistent index. This study is insufficient in that the index term consistency analysis and the exhaustivity analysis in this study did not use the methodology for the consistency analysis and the exhaustivity analysis used in the general study of index term, and thus the analysis was not quantitative enough. However, it is meaningful that the has started a basic study on the service and utilization of oral history archives in Korea by researching the index of oral history that has not been studied in Korea so far. This study also proposed ways to improve the indexing vocabulary of oral history archives and focused on providing an indexing guideline for immediate use by indexer of index term. As such research is used as one of the basic studies of the original use that can preserve oral history archives and context, it can be expected to be a seed for the study of the use of original oral history archives.

keyword: Oral history archives, index term, Consistency, Exhaustivity|2000년대부터 국내의 구술사 연구가 본격적으로 성장하기 시작하면서, 구술사와 관련된 기록학 연구들도 실시되기 시작하였다. 하지만 디지털 아카이브를 구축하기 위한 방법론과 구술기록의 정리, 기술에 대한 연구들이 대부분이었으며, 구술기록의 내용을 구조화하고 검색하는 것과는 거리가 멀었다. 이와 더불어, 현재 국내 구술사 수행기관 대부분이 구술기록에 대한 색인을 작성하고 있으나, 작성된 색인이 역할을 온전히 수행하는지, 기본적인 요건을 충족하고 있는지에 대한 연구 또한 이루어지지 않았다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제의식에서 출발하여, 구술기록 색인용어의 개선방안을 제시하고자 한다. 구술기록 색인용어의 개선방안을 제시하기 위하여 색인용어의 일관성과 망라성을 한국학중앙연구원 현대한국구술자료관을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 문헌연구를 실시하였고, 결과를 바탕으로 한국학중앙연구원 구술기록 색인의 현황을 조사하고 색인용어의 일관성과 망라성 분석을 실시하여 개선방안과 색인지침을 마련하였다. 첫째, 문헌연구는 구술기록의 정의와 특성, 구술기록 검색도구, 그리고 기록 검색도구의 정의와 종류, 색인의 정의와 기능, 일관성과 망라성을 위주로 실시하였다. 둘째, 문헌연구 결과를 바탕으로 한국학중앙연구원 구술기록 색인을 대상으로 현황조사 및 분석을 실시하였다. 구술기록 색인의 현황 및 특징을 파악하기 위해 색인의 형태, 서비스 방식, 색인의 생산방식을 파악하였다. 현재 한국학중앙연구원 구술기록 색인은 키워드 형태로 작성되고 있어 색인의 기능을 온전히 수행할 수 없으며, 구술기록의 채록자가 임의로 색인용어를 작성하고 있는 상태이다. 셋째, 한국학중앙연구원 구술기록 27건, 1,404개 색인용어를 대상으로 일관성을 Sobak(2017)의 연구방법론을 준용하여 분석하였다. 색인용어의 분야별 일관성, 색인자 일관성, 색인자간 일관성을 개별 구술기록의 색인용어 수, 색인용어 개수 평균, 색인용어 유형 분포, 색인용어 당 시간 각각의 편차와 색인용어의 사용 빈도, 이형동의어, 오류를 통해 알아보았다. 이를 통해 구술기록 색인용어가 분야별로 일관되지 않게 작성되어 있으며, 색인용어를 작성한 채록자 간에도 일관되지 않게 작성되었고, 동일 채록자가 작성한 구술기록 간에도 색인용어가 일관되지 않게 작성되었음을 파악하였다. 넷째, 구술기록 색인용어의 망라성 분석은 구술기록 3건, 189개의 색인용어를 대상으로 관점 망라성과 중요도 망라성을 파악하는 방식으로 이루어졌다. 이를 위해 한국학중앙연구원 구술기록 색인용어의 유형, 수량, 출현빈도와 구술기록에 형태소 분석기를 사용하여 추출한 어휘의 유형과 수량, 출현빈도를 비교하였다. 다섯째, 연구결과를 바탕으로 개선방안과 색인 작성 지침을 제시하였다. 개선방안의 경우 색인 작성 지침을 작성하고 작성자에게 교육을 실시하며, 색인 작성 방법을 변경하여 개별 채록자에게 색인 작성을 맡기지 않고 전문 담당자를 두는 방안을 제시하였다. 구술기록 색인용어 지침의 경우, 이형동의어 및 기호의 오류를 방지하고 작성자들이 일관성 있는 색인을 작성할 수 있게끔 제시하였다. 본 연구의 색인용어 일관성 분석과 망라성 분석은 일반적인 색인용어의 연구에서 사용되는 일관성 분석과 망라성 분석을 위한 방법론을 사용하지 못하였으며, 이에 따라 일정정도 정량적이지 못한 분석이 실시되었다는 점에서 한계가 존재한다. 그러나 이제까지 국내에서 연구되지 않은 구술기록 색인에 대한 연구를 실시함으로써 국내 구술기록 서비스 및 활용에 대한 기초연구를 시작하였다는 것에 의의가 있다. 또한 본 연구는 구술기록 색인용어의 개선방안을 제안하고 색인용어의 작성자들이 즉시 사용할 수 있는 색인지침을 제시하는데 중점을 두었다. 이와 같은 연구가 구술기록의 구술성과 맥락을 보존할 수 있는 원본 활용에 대한 기초연구 중 하나로 활용됨으로써, 구술기록 원본의 활용에 대한 연구의 씨앗이 되기를 기대해볼 수 있다.
