觀客層에 따른 扮裝의 변화에 관한 硏究

Abstract

최근 몇 년간 국내 뮤지컬 시장이 관객의 관심에 힘입어 큰 성장을 해왔으나 어린이를 대상으로 한 뮤지컬은 성인을 대상으로 한 뮤지컬에 비하면 공연되는 편수가 미미한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 관객층에 따른 분장의 차이를 성인 <난타>와 어린이 <난타>를 대상으로 비교, 분석하고 ,어린이 뮤지컬에 있어서 분장의 역할과 앞으로의 발전방향을 고찰해 봄으로써 어린이 뮤지컬의 활성화를 위한 발전 방향을 제시하는 데에 그 목적을 두고 있다. 이 목적을 위해 선행연구의 조사와 문헌 연구를 총해 뮤지컬에 있어서 분장이 다른 구성요소들인 연출, 미술, 의상, 조명등과 유기적으로 관계를 맺으면서 작품의 완성도에도 큰 영향을 미치고 있음을 살펴보았고 성인과 어린이를 대상으로 한 뮤지컬 <난타>의 작품분석을 통한 분장의 사례를 집중 분석해 보았다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같이 요약될 수 있다. 첫째, 성인 성인관객들은 분장을 통해 보여지는 캐릭터보다는 스토리나 배우의 이미지와 같은 내적, 외적인 요소에 의해 캐릭터를 분석하고 받아들이기 때문에 뮤지컬에 있어서 분장에 대한 의존도가 어린이 뮤지컬 보다는 낮다고 볼 수 있다. 어린이 뮤지컬에서는 어린이라는 관객의 특성상 “보여지는 것”에 대한 비중이 중요하기 때문에 난타에서도 성인 난타에서와 달리 평범한 캐릭터인 요리사들 외에 화려한 분장과 의상이 필요한 마법사라는 캐릭터를 추가함으로서 뮤지컬의 흥미성을 높이는 시도를 했다. 둘째, 성인 <난타>와 <어린이 난타>에 공통적으로 나타나는 분장의 특징은 성인 난타의 섹시가이나 어린이 난타의 지배인처럼 얼굴 전체 분장을 과장되게 하기 보다는 수염 같은 하나의 포인트를 활용한 분장이었다. 그 결과로 과장된 분장을 했을 때보다 캐릭터가 거리감 없이 자연스럽게 인식될 수 있었다. 이것은 두 작품의 분장이 자연스러움을 우선하고 배우의 개성을 살려 가며 역인물화 하는 작업을 시도하고 있는 최근의 분장 추세와 맥락을 같이 한다고 볼 수 있을 것이다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 어린이 뮤지컬의 활성화를 위한 제안을 하고자 한다. 어린이 뮤지컬에서는 분장의 비중이 큰 부분을 차지하므로 분장을 하기에 앞서 어린이 관객에 대한 연구가 선행되어야 한다. 현재 성인 위주로 되어있는 분장 매뉴얼에 어린이 뮤지컬을 위한 내용을 추가하고 어린이 뮤지컬의 제작단계에 분장 디자이너의 참여도를 높이는 방안도 강구되어야 할 것이다. 또한, 아동극 분장을 분장의 한 전문영역으로 받아들여 지속적인 관심과 연구를 통한 발전을 모색해 나가야 할 것이다.|The musical market has grown rapidly in Korea for last few years thanks to audience's interest. The musicals for children, however, take insignificant portion in a total number of musicals that have been performed so far. Having this in view, this study aims to propose useful suggestions for a boost to children's musicals by comparing and analyzing the differences in stage make-up between adult and children Nantas. To accomplish this purpose, it was examined and confirmed through past investigation and documentary research that stage make-up is organically connected with other components of musicals such as directing, stage art, costume and lighting and has a huge effect on the end performance quality. The in depth comparative analysis was executed over the stage make-up cases in the musicals targeting two different type of audience: adult and children. The outcome can be summarized as follows. First, audience's reliance on stage make-up in adult musicals was far lower than that in children musicals. This is because adult audience analyze and accept the musical characters not by stage make-up but by the internal or external factors of musicals such as story plot or actors' (or actresses') image the audience held in mind. According to children audience's characteristics, it is remarkably important to show "something interesting" to attract children audience's attention. For this reason, magician characters who need colorful make-up and fancy costume were added in the musical which is likely to be somewhat mundane with cook characters only to arouse more interests among children. Second, what both adult and children Nantas have in common in terms of stage make-up is not exaggerated but natural make-up stressing single specific point like a beard on sexy guy and chef in adult Nanta and manager in children Nanta, This helped audience recognize the musical characters naturally without sense of distance. This also suggests that stage make-up in Nantas comply with the current make-up tendency which stage make-up put naturalness first and attempts reverse characterization by giving vividness to actors own character. Based upon these findings. following suggestions can be made. As stage make-up places a great deal of weight in children musicals, the thorough study on children audience should be conducted prior to applying actual make-up. The children musical stage make-up manual should be developed. Furthermore, stage make-up for children musicals should be considered as an independent and specialized sector in stage make-up and a dynamization scheme should be sought after through constant attention and study.
