24시간 보육시설에 대한 교사와 어머니의 인식에 관한 연구
- Abstract
- Recently, as the society changes more rapidly with more nuclear families, working women and particularly working married women, the problem of raising children become a social issue. Moreover, as the working conditions become more diversified, working parents cannot afford to take care of their children by turns. On the other hand, as the number of disintegrated families increase, more children are deserted by their parents. All these and other situations require the 24 hour day care program services,
Under such circumstances, this study was aimed at surveying teachers' and mothers' perceptions of 24 hour day care program and thereby, providing for some basic data useful to activation of 24 hour day care program.
To this end, teachers working for 3 ward childcare facilities in Seoul and mothers with their children taken care of by the facilities were surveyed with a questionnaire.
The results of this study can be summarized as follows;
First, most teachers and mothers agreed that 24 hour day care program should be operated. Hence, it is deemed necessary to increase 24 hour day care program so that parents can entrust their children with such facilities.
Second, mothers felt that the monthly childcare fee should be 300 thousand wons or less, while teachers perceived that 300 ∼ 400 thousand wons would be appropriate. Hence, the government is requested to increase its subsidies to 24 hour day care program for lower-income families,
Third, both teachers and mothers perceived that 3 ∼ 5 children should be taken care of by a teacher, and that teachers' important roles were children's healthcare, nutrition and safety management.
Fourth, mothers perceived that all-around-the-clock childcare facilities should be connected with the police for children's safety, while teachers perceived that a gate video phone system was most important for children's safety.
Fifth, both teachers and mothers agreed that the most important aspects of 24 hour day care program should be children's nutrition, health and safety, which suggests that such aspects of the childcare programs should be reinstated.
Sixth, both mothers and teachers perceived that parents and teachers should talk about children's condition together.
Seventh, in order to activate 24 hour day care program, mothers wanted the government to expand its subsidies to the facilities, while teachers wanted the childcare programs to be more diversified.
