Abstract
KAAY, with its 40th anniversary of opening of a school, developed into a birthplace for training the elite military officers through many reforms, hardships, and fruition. It is striving for nurturing the elite military officers who have talent and capability of voluntarily coping with 21st century's highly informative and scientific battlefields and ones who possess desirable personality and character. However, recent cases involving KAAY graduates, such as $40 million financial fraud and female spy incident, aroused criticism in the army and public raising the awareness of problems that need to be complemented in school and mind that need to be cultivated. From this point of view, I present an educational course program along with a method of endowing with school's dignity and pride by analyzing school's educational environment and KAAY graduate officer's thinking.
In a theoretical background, I chose tools that are needed in measuring and evaluating mind level and based upon this, I performed a comparative analysis on cadet's environmental assessment and predecessor military officer's mind level assessment result. Also, national security was primarily reflected on the incidents that had recently occurred. As a result, I present an educational course program and an environment-developing program on the inspiration of KAAY cadet's self-esteem, enhancement of law-abiding spirit, and the establishment of correct perception about one's nation.
First, I presented a proper educational method for the inculcation of self-esteem and enhancement of law-abiding spirit by analyzing mental state of cadets and education effect. To inspire pride, school's history and tradition can be taught and to raise the elite mind of KAAY military officers ruminating upon the high status of cadets, all kinds of training's importance and educational events' substantiality can be studied.
In order to raise law-abiding spirit, I suggested completing soldier's fundamental attitude → possessing leadership → enhancing field warfare business practice / educating program and directing assimilation of commanding duty cadets' lives based on the importance of training → fostering obedience / directing self-regulation → cultivating cooperative mind / sacrificial mentality → developing leadership in this order through selecting each semester's mind point and instructing them, detailing down guidances by cadet's self duty, and training them so each can voluntarily comply with regulations. Also, I searched for a program that can establish correct perception about one's nation to cadets by analyzing current military science and national security. This type of instructor's and commanding duty cadet's guidance and the mind-set of cadets voluntarily complying with regulations should be both applied in a short two-year period of cadet life in order to instill school's and cadet's pride and law-abiding spirit. Also for the enhancement of school's dignity and the inculcation of KAAY graduate military officers' pride, I presented a program that can complement promotion of school related to the regional culture and organization's symbol. Considering the regional distinctiveness of Yongcheon city, which the school is located in, one method of promoting school is by developing tourism course and constructing 「History Public Relations Office」 within the school. This should be applied by dividing into short-term and long-term tasks, and expert's research study can be pre-condition. However, we cannot wait for everything to be completely accomplished. By informing this type of school's great project to cadets, they can voluntarily participate through presenting a method of design and character development. Even if they cannot directly participate, pride in cadet's mind can grow just by knowing how the school is improving.
Looking at the background of military officer related incidents that have recently occurred, I can say these types of incidents constantly happen due to the people who have not been adequately cultivated into having the correct perception about one's nation, value system, and personality. In conclusion, cadets' value system and personality are not permanent, and thus can be changed depending on instructors' efforts and army and public's change of mind. Therefore, if programs that have been presented in this study are applied, it is determined that cadets with correct perception about one's nation, value system, elite mind, can be nurtured.
