現代 아트 메이크업의 繪畵的 傾向과 技法에 관한 硏究

Abstract

아트 메이크업이란 인간의 신체를 대상으로 내적 이미지의 세계를 표현하는 예술의 형태로서 다양한 소재로 신체를 장식하고 개성적인 자아를 표현하는 미의 세계라고 볼 수 있다. 미의 개념이나 가치기준은 영원불변한 것이 아니고 사회적 관습이나 유행심리에 의해 변화, 재형성되는 것으로서 미의 가치관은 사회와 종속적 관계로 끊임없이 변화되는 특성을 지니고 있다고 본다. 그러므로 본 논문은 이러한 미의 현상적 특성에 관점을 두고, 새로운 미의 형태로서 현대사회의 아트 메이크업의 개념을 구축하며 예술적 표현의 다양성과 상징성을 파악하는데 그 목적이 있다. 신체를 예술의 차원으로 끌어 올리는 아트 메이크업은 획일화된 미의 개념이 아니라, 원시 이래로 그 가치의 기준이 달라짐에 따라 다양하고 개성화된 거대한 문화로서의 형성이라 말할 수 있다. 이러한 아트 메이크업은 시각적으로나 장식적인 의미에서도 화려한 분장 예술적 표현이라 말할 수 있다. 그러나 관련문헌을 통해 본 연구자의 견해로는 아트 메이크업이 태고적부터 장식적이고 개성적인 것을 표현하고자 한 것은 아니라고 추정해 볼 수 있다. 원시시대의 아트 메이크업은 자신의 신분과 재산을 표시하기 위함이었고, 주술적, 종교적 행사를 위해, 때로는 적으로부터의 자신을 보호하기 위해 자신의 얼굴을 변형하거나 채색하였다. 이러한 아트 메이크업은 생물학적인 인간에서 사회적 인간으로의 재탄생을 의미하며, 인간과 자연계 및 우주와의 결속을 위한 목적이라 볼 수 있다. 현대의 아트 메이크업은 인간의 육체를 재조형한 예술의 한 분야로서 현시대에는 자리매김이 되어 왔으며 특별한 회화적 기법으로 인체를 디자인한 것이라고 정리해 볼 수 있다고 본다. 한 일례로, 패션쇼를 위한 메이크업의 경향은 다양한 특성과 개성을 갖춘 결과 패션 디자이너의 디자인 개념을 표현하고 연출하는데 있어 보다 새롭고 독창적인 표현과 기법의 발달로 또다른 메이크업의 장르를 구축한 한 예로 볼 수 있다. 인체를 디자인하는 아트 메이크업은 해체주의나 포스트 모더니즘이라는 미술사조의 영향을 받아 현대 아트 메이크업의 기하학적인 예술형태로 표현되어졌다. 이러한 경향은 혼돈과 무질서의 세기말적인 사회현상으로 메이크업의 고정된 관념을 분해하고 다양한 사고의 틀을 형성하는 예술의 한 형태로 형성되었다. 20세기 후반에 들어서면서 현대 사람들은 신체 디자인을 긍정적으로 받아들이고, 신체 디자인의 범위가 확장되어감으로써 현대 패션에서 인간 신체에 대한 기존관념을 재인식하고 재해석한 새로운 신체 미의식이 대두되고 있다. 이에 따라 이상적인 미의 기준은 개인의 독특하고 창조적인 개성 표현을 중시하는 경향으로 나타나고 있으며, 예술의 한 분야로 자리매김 하였다. 아트 메이크업은 가장 동적이고 적극적인 표현으로 패션에 적극 유입되어 다양하게 표현되며 일반적인 인식을 부정하는 인식의 전환이라 할 수 있다. 현대 사회에서는 인간의 내적 이미지의 세계를 표현하는 화장의 분야로서 뷰티 메이크업에서 아트 메이크업의 미적 표현을 넓히는 새로운 대중 예술을 형성하기에 이르렀으며, 아트 메이크업의 시각적인 화려함과 색채와 디자인이 가지는 상징성으로 대다수의 사람들이 매력을 느끼며, 그러한 아름다움으로 인해 미래로 나아갈수록 보다 더 선호되어지는 화장기법으로 그 분야가 넓혀질 것이라 본다. 또한 아트 메이크업은 일회적이라는 단점을 가지고 있지만 정지되어 있는 예술작품보다 사실적이면서도 추상적 작품까지 변화가 가능하며, 또한 영상 매체로서 보존이 가능하여 오래도록 살아있는 감동을 줄 수 있다. 본 논문의 연구방법은 패션과 예술에 관한 다양한 국내외 문헌과 색채와 디자인에 관한 문헌, 인터넷, 잡지 등을 중심으로 진행하였으며, 본 연구가 창작적인 작품임을 감안하여 본 연구자의 일러스트 자료를 시각자료로 제시하였다. 올해는 우리나라에서 국제적인 행사인 월드컵이 개최되는 현재, 아트 메이크업은 또 다른 의미로 부각되어질 것이다. 기존의 아트 메이크업은 타고난 외모를 인위적으로 색을 입혀 디자인의 변화에 따라 화려하거나 지적인 이미지를 창조하여 다른 사람으로 하여금 아름답게 보이려는 예술적인 미를 표현하여 자신의 신체를 과시하고자 하였다. 그러나 월드컵 등의 이벤트 행사에서는 하나의 단결력과 일체감을 보여주며 시각적인 효과를 극대화하는데 의미가 있다. 본 연구자는 이러한 국가적인 행사에서 친숙하게 볼 수 있는 페이스 페인팅이라는 아트 메이크업의 분야를 연구하여 새로운 실용학문으로 자리를 굳히는 계기가 되며, 메이크업 분야에서도 그 중요성이 보다 강조되어질 것으로 본다. 메이크업은 이제 아름다움의 표현을 초월하여 장식하기 위한 수단으로 행해지고 있으며, 시각적인 일체감과 통일감의 동적인 표현방법으로 이용되고 있다. 이러한 장식은 인간의 본능보다는 사회적 변화와 요구에 의해 치장되어지고 현대사회에서 미래로 나갈수록 아트 메이크업의 필요성이 확장되어질 것이며 새롭고 신선한 가치로서 인정받을 것으로 본다. 또한 아트 메이크업은 사용되는 재료의 다양화, 디자인 기법의 개발 등이 이루어져야 하며, 아트 메이크업에 관한 작품과 다양한 후속 연구들이 학문적인 차원에서 추진되어져야 할 것이다.|Art make-up is a type of art that expesses the world of internal images on human bodies. It is an aesthetic world where characteristic individuals are represented by bodies decorated with various materials. The concept or value of beauty is not permanent, but changes and recycles according to social practices and fashions. Thus, the value of beauty undergoes indefinite alteration depending on the society. Therefore, focused on such a phenomenal characteristic of beauty, the present thesis aims at structuring the concept of art make-up as a new form of beauty in modern societies, and examining the variety and symbolicalness of artistic expression. Art make-up, which raises human bodies up to the artistic dimension is not a uniformed concept of beauty. Instead it is a form of immense culture varied and individualized according to value systems, since the primitive ages. Among various branches of make-up, art make-up may be regarded as colorful artistic make-up expession in a visual and decorative sense. However, after the pesent researcher reviewed the related literature, he presumed that art make-up was not intended for decorative and characteristic expressions initially in the pimitive ages. Art make-up in the primitive ages was for manifesting one's social standing and wealth, for performing magical and religious events, or for protecting. oneself from enemies by transforming or painting his face. Such original art make-up meant the rebirth of biological human beings to social beings, and the unification of man, nature and the universe. Modern art make-up has been settled as a branch of art that reshapes human bodies using particular pictorial techniques. As an example, the make-up trend of fashion shows has established a new make-up genre as a result of the development of creative and novel expression technique for regesenting, and Performing fashion designers' design concepts. Influenced by the art trends such as deconstructivism or post modernism art make-up, which design human bodies, has been recognized as a geometrical art form modern art make-up. Such a trend has shaped a form of art that has disintegrated the fixed concept of make-up, and established various frameworks of thinking, as a part of the chaotic and disordered social phenomenon at the end of the last century. Turning to the second half of the 20th century, modern people became affirmative to body design, and as body design expanded its scope, the traditional idea of the human body was reconsidered and reinterpreted as a new aesthetic sense in modern fashion. Accordingly, the criteria of ideal beauty began to emphasize personal unique and creative expression, which occupied a position in the art world. Art make-up was actively imported to fashion as the most dynamic and positive representation, and was expressed in a diverse way. This was a converted perception denying the general notion. In the present society, several areas of make-up that express the images inside human beings, such as beauty make-up and art make-up, are forming a new type of popular art. The symbolicalness of visual gaudiness, color and design is attracting people, and the beauty will prevail further as a preferred make-up technique in the future. Though it has a disadvantage of temporality, art make-up, realistic rather than standstill, can produce even abstract works, be preserved in the form of visual media conveying its impression for a long time. As for the methodology of the present thesis, various domestic and foreign materials about fashion and art, diverse literatures about color and design, information on the Internet, and magazines were reviewed, and illustrations by the present researcher were presented as visual materials, considering that the research was a of ative work. In this year when the World Cup, an international event, is held in Korea, art make-up will be brought out in a new sense. Existing art make-up has attempted te display one's body artistically beautified by creating gaudy or intellectual images through artificial painting and design. However, in events such as the World Cup, the Purpose of art make-up is to maximize visual effects representing the power of combination and the sense of unity. The present researcher considers that such a national event may be an opportunity for studying face painting as a new branch of art make-up, and settling it as a new practical science. Through the event, face painting is likely to take an important position in the make-up area. Now make-up is being put on as a means of decoration beyond the expression of beauty, a means of dynamic visual representation of the sense of unity and uniformity. Such decoration will be applied to social changes and demands rather than the instinct of human beings. Over time in the future, modern society will conform to the necessity of art make-up, and will recognize its novel and fresh value. In addition, it is necessary to develop various materials and design techniques for art make-up, and to produce art make-up works and academic research results.
