피카소의 회화를 응용한 바디 아트(Body art)에 관한 연구

Abstract

Body Art는 인체에 표현하는 종합예술로 아티스트의 창의적이고 독창적인 작품세계를 극대화시킬 수 있는 예술 분야이다. 이 분야는 다양한 주제와 기법을 독특한 연출을 통하여 다른 문화 예술 전반에 접목하거나 그 자체로도 작품세계를 표현할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 Body Art들 중에서도 바디 페인팅을 중심으로 연구를 진행하였으며 표현의 다양함과 예술적 풍부함을 위해 현대 미술의 거장 피카소의 회화세계를 응용하였으며 연구결과를 요약해 보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 피카소(1881∼1973)의 작품세계는 다양한 시대적 변이를 보여주고 있으며 그의 예술작품들은 Body Art 분야에 응용하기에 충분하였다. 즉, 1907년의 영원히 기념할 명작 '아비뇽의 아가씨들'의 경우, 아프리카 흑인 조각의 영향이 많이 나타나는 동시에 형태분석(形態分析)이 구체화되기 시작하였음에서 알 수 있듯이, 수많은 그의 회화 작품들은 Body Art의 풍부한 표현과 신선한 내용을 담기 위한 원천이 되었다. 둘째, 피카소 회화를 응용하여 인체에 구성한 결과 현대적 조형감각과 선 감각이 표출되었으며, 여러 각도로 응용하여 다양한 소재의 메이크업과 흥미로운 표현 방법으로 인한 새로운 창작의 가능성을 부여하였다. Body Art는 단순히 인체에 그림을 그리는 것이 아닌 인체의 아름다움과 예술성을 접목하여 조형성과 예술적인 면을 가지고 메이크업을 한층 높은 차원의 개념으로 아름다움을 추구하며 동시에 미에 대한 창조적인 작업을 진행하는 분야이다. 완벽한 메이크업과 문양이나 선, 면, 윤곽에 따라 이루어지는 Body Art의 표현 방법을 보면 다양한 문양, 추상적인 화법, 사실적 묘사, 의상, 빛의 음영처리로 부각시키는 조각상과 사진기법을 이용한 연출 등 전통적인 기법과 새로운 아이디어의 다양한 기법 등 표현 방법이 무궁무진하다고 할 수 있다. 셋째, 독창적인 아이디어와 영감도 중요하지만 작품을 더욱 돋보이게 하기 위해선 특정한 테마를 주제로, 기획한 의도대로 의상, 헤어, 메이크업, 소품을 준비하고 그에 따른 색상분석을 하는 등, 토탈적인 연출의 필요성이 부각되었다. 바디 페인팅은 자연광, 인공 조명과 무대디자인, 음악, 소품 등과 함께 공연, 패션쇼 등에서 움직이는 인체에 행해지는 것이 보통이므로 평면적이고 정적인 회화적 표현으로는 한계를 실감하였다. 앞으로 대중문화, 정보미디어 시대에 메이크업 분야가 단순히 뷰티 산업으로 그치는 것이 아니라 환타지아 메이크업, 바디페인팅, 특수분장 등 다양한 프로그램으로 이벤트화 시켜 문화 공연의 활성화를 이룰 수 있기를 기대한다.|Body art, a composite art expressed on the body, is a genre of art which can maximize artist’s creative and unique world of art. Hence, diverse themes and techniques may be grafted onto other genres of art through unique renderings or a unique world of art may be expressed by body art alone. The purpose of this study is to review the body art, particularly the body painting, and thereby, apply the modem art master Picasso’s paintings to the body art to diversify the expressions and enrich the artistic sense. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; First, Since Picasso‘s (1881-1973) world of art changed reflecting the changing real world, his artworks may well be applied to the body art. Second, as a result of composing the body by applying Picasso’s paintings to it, it was found that a modern formative and linear sense could be expressed. Moreover, his works could be applied for makeups of diverse materials and interesting expressive techniques only to expand the possibility of new creations. Body art grafts the arts onto the beautiful body rather than simply paints the body, and thereby, serves to enhance makeup to a higher dimension in fantastic and artistic terms. In short, body art is a creative aesthetic genre of art. Third, although creative ideas and inspirations are important, it may also be important to plan a certain theme highlighting the work, and prepare costumes, hairs, makeups and sets as planned, and analyze the color tones. Namely, it is necessary to produce a work through a total production. Since body painting is usually combined with natural lights, artificial illumination, stage design, music and sets to be produced for such events as fashion show, it may not be well produced with a planar and static painting. In the age of popular culture and information media, it is hoped that makeup will remain a simple beauty industry but develop into such diverse programs as fantasia makeup, body painting and special makeup and thereby contribute to developments of cultural performances.
