피카소의 색채를 응용한 아트 메이크업 일러스트레이션에 관한 연구

Abstract

메이크업은 시대의 흐름에 따른 철학사조의 변화, 실존주의와 미술사조의 변화, 초현실주의 둥에 힘입어, 단순한 장식적 치장의 의미로 한정되기보다는 복잡해진 인간의 내면가치를 표현하는 중요한 화장 문화라고 칭할 수 있는 생활예술의 한분야로 자리매김이 되었는데 이를 아트 메이크업이라고 명명할 수 있다고 본다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 현대적인 아트 메이크업의 의미에 맞는 일러스트레이션의 의미를 살펴보고, 본 연구의 대상작가로서 1세기를 살아왔다고 표현해도 과언이 아닐 피카소의 작품들을 시대에 따른 색채분석을 하고자 하며 분석결과의 색채를 응용한 아트메이크업의 일러스트레이션을 보다 더 순수 예술적 접근을 시도해 봄으로써 색채적용기법에 대한 창작능력을 키워가고자 한다. 응용한 아트 메이크업의 일러스트레이션을 살펴보아서 창조적인 아트 메이크업의 의미를 찾는 것이었다. 위의 목적을 위해 아트 메이크업과 피카소의 작품에 따른 색채를 분석하고 그러한 색채를 중심으로 하여 본 연구자가 연구를 위해 일러스트레이션을 제작하여 그 예로 삼고자 한다. 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 메이크업 분야 중에서 보다 더 예술적이고, 독창적이며, 창조적인 분야는 아트 메이크업이라고 판단된다. 둘째, 자신의 이미지와 경쟁하는 가공의 이미지를 창조하는 예술에 대한 욕망이 아트 메이크업의 근원이라고 본다. 셋째, 아트 메이크업은 시각에 의한 표현을 중심으로 하고 있다고 본다. 넷째, 일러스트레이션은 형식에 있어서는 회화와 디자인의 중간영역이고, 목적에 있어서는 대중설득과 미적 감동의 유발이라는 이중적 목적을 가지며, 기능에 있어서는 형태와 색채에 의한 커뮤니케이션이며, 내용과 표현에 있어서는 제한이 없는 쟝르라고 분류하고자 한다. 다섯째, 일러스트레이션은 계몽을 위한 수단이거나 커뮤니케이션을 위한 도구이기에 앞서 시각적 메시지를 담고 있는 심미적 조형매체라고 본다. 여섯째, 일러스트 표현기법의 현대적 성격 즉 왜, 누구에게, 어떠한 목적으로, 어떻게 표현되고, 전달되어야 하는가에 대한 의미파악을 강조하는 일러스트레이션의 성격은 예술작품 속에 표현된 색채분석 및 응용과정이 중요하다고 본다. 본연구자는 이러한 관점에서, 본 연구의 대상인 아트 메이크업에 있어서는 그림 속에서 주제와 색채분석 과정을 통해 분석하고자 한다. 아트 메이크업에서의 일러스트레이션은 시각적 감각을 중점적으로 이용한다는 특성으로 인하여 색채표현과 밀접한 관련을 갖고 있다고 본다. 색채표현은 대표적으로 회화와 밀접한 관련이 있다고 본다. 본 연구의 대상인 피카소의 경우는 우리 현대 미술사조에 끼친 영향이 지대하여 짧게 정리하기에는 무리가 따른다고 본다. 그러나 한 세기를 살면서 그의 예술의 전 시대를 걸쳐 그가 인간과 사회를 보는 시각이나 당시의 사회배경의 변화에 따라 작품양식 뿐만 아니라 회화 작품의 색채에서 많은 변화를 보여주고 있고 처음으로 꼴라쥬(collage) 기법을 사용했으며 입체주의의 창시자이기도 하다. 본 연구자는 이러한 연구의 목적과 관점에서 연구의 대상이 되는 회화작가를 피카소로 정하고자 한다. 피카소를 연구의 대상으로 선택한 이유는 다음과 같은 연구의 장점을 지니고 있기 때문이다. 첫째, 피카소의 청색시대 작품에서 청색의 색조는 비극적인 다양한 감정들과 그 감정들의 강렬함을 표현하기 위한 것으로 보인다. 둘째, 피카소의 장밋빛 시대의 작품들을 보면 청색시대와 같이 여전히 버림받은 자들을 그리면서 자신을 그들과 일체화시키고 있으나 긴장미는 약간 풀어지고 화면이 전체적으로 따뜻해진다. 셋째, 입체주의 전조의 시대의 색채는 분명히 장밋빛 시대의 연장이다. 그러나 색채에 의한 표현은 구성으로 극복되어진다. 넷째, 분석적 입체주의 시대의 작품들은 회색, 어두운 색, 녹색 둥의 모노톤으로 이루어져 있는데 이것은 색채의 이미지보다는 대상의 분석과 구성에 초점을 맞추게 된 결과라고 할 수 있다. 다섯째, 종합적 입체주의 시대는 풍부한 색채로 가득해지고 형태와 색채의 구조와 상이한 재질감의 결합으로 구상적인 연상이 가능하게 되었다. 그리하여 피카소는 분석적 입체주의의 엄격한 질서보다는 색채와 형태의 배합을 통한 즐거운 조형으로 표현되었다고 평가받고 있다. 여섯째, 다양한 스타일의 시대 중 신고전주의 시대는 입체주의 화면의 조화로운 질서 속에서 색채에도 역할을 부여하기 시작한 것 같다. 이제 화면의 색채는 중간색조로만 한정되지 않고 선명한 원색이 둥장한 것으로 보인다. 꿈의 분석 시대는 전체적으로 분석적 입체주의 시대보다 색채가 원색적으로 변하였고 색의 종류도 다양해졌다. 분노의 시대는 꿈의 분석 시대의 발랄하던 색채는 사라지고 화면 전체의 색조는 어두워졌음을 찾아볼 수 있다. 이와 같은 피카소의 작품 양식의 변화에 따른 색채 변화는 그 변화가 인간의 감성의 표현에서의 변화를 말해주는 것이기에 인간을 표현하는 창조적인 예술 분야인 아트 메이크업의 일러스트 표현에도 훌륭하게 응용될 수 있는 것으로 보인다. 본 논문에서 연구자는 이러한 예술작품과 아트 메이크업의 일러스트레이션이라는 두 가지 다른 예술 영역의 접목과 응용에 대한 가능성을 시험해보고자 하는 하나의 시도를 한 것에 불과하지만 이처럼 접목과 응용의 무한한 가능성은 피카소뿐만 아니라 다른 예술가들의 예술작품도 가지고 있기 때문에 추후 이와 관련된 후속 연구가 계속되기를 기대한다.|The purpose of this study is to review the implications of the illustrations suitable to the modern art make-up and thereupon, examine the illustrations of the art make-up which apply Picasso's painting colors, and thereby, determine a creative art make-up. For this study, art make-up and Picasso's painting colors were analyzed, and thereby, some actual illustrations were produced. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; First, the most artistic, unique and creative make-up is the art make-up. Second, the art make-up derives from the desire of art to create a fictional image competing with self-image. Third, the art make-up uses the visual expression primarily. Fourth, the illustration is positioned between painting and design in terms of form, and has the dual goals of persuasion of the public and induction of an aesthetic excitement. In terms of function, it is a communication by means of forms and colors, and it is a genre of art not limited by contents and expressions. Fifth, the illustration is an aesthetic formative medium containing some visual messages just beyond means of enlightenment or communication. Sixth, it is important for the illustration to analyze the colors expressed in artworks; so, it is necessary to review 'why', 'to whom', 'for what reason' and 'how' for an illustration. Hence, in this study, themes and colors of the paintings were analyzed for the art make-up. With such basic conceptions in mind, the researcher selected Picasso's works to analyze their colors for the art make-up. Picasso's works were selected because they have the following advantages; First, the blue tone of Picasso's works produced in the time of his blue color expresses some tragic emotions dramatically. Second, his works produced in the time of his rose color still express the deserted people identified with himself, but the aesthetics of tension is loosened and the screen becomes warm. Third, his works produced just before cubism is clearly an extension of his rose color works. However, the color expressions are overcome by composition. Fourth, his analytical cubism works are such monotone as gray, dark color or green. In other words, these works focus on analysis and composition of the objects rather than on color images. Fifth, in the time of the general cubism, his works become full of rich colors, while forms and color composition are combined with the materials of difference sense only to render a representational association. Thus, Picasso departs from the strict order of the analytical cubism to pursue a playful composition of colors and forms. Sixth, in the time of his nee-classicism, he seems to attach a role of color to the harmonious order of thecubistic screens. Since the changes of the color expressions in Picasso's works reflect changes of human emotional expressions, they may well be applied to the illustration of the creative art make-up designed to express men.
