Abstract
The aim of this study was to present detailed information on the characteristics of MSDs for older employees (50 years and over). These characteristics of 1,481 cases include event leading to MSDs, risk factors, part of body affected by MSDs, and relationship between physical work factors and MSDs. The analysis was conducted in x²-test to verify the difference of distribution between under 50 years and 50 years and more by gender, occupation, industry, size of business, and duration of employment. The other was logistic regression analysis to assess the association of the exposure with neck, shoulder, low back, upper and lower extremity MSDs. Findings showed that the two groups were statistically significant in x²-test and older employees had odds ratios (OR) greater than 3 in relationship between repetition, contact stress/vibration and upper extremity MSDs. Hereafter, those data would help many occupational health agency and workplaces find the optimal intervention to prevent MSDs related to the old.
