Abstract
The purpose of this study lies in groping for the changes and the operation improvements of the church education of Korea. Our conclusion regarding this matter is as follows.
First, church education requires a variety of educational program which enables church congregation to learn and practice their way of life by breaking from the limited organization centered on the church communities, that is, children and teen-agers. Now is the time we are going to face the two hundred years' anniversary of missionary work in Korea, so we need a concrete blue-print in relation to church education.
Second, a bold investment for church education, an improvement of educational environments and facilities, and a professional characteristics of the administration of church education must be reconsidered. Besides, we must take a triangular position for the establishment of educational theology, and solve the shortage problem of teachers. Children, middle and high school students, college students, adults and old men must be converted as their main function of education.
Third, the contents and method of church education don't come up to the expectations of church education because they are too much centered on simple worship, cramming style of lecture. The necessity of church education as a sense of value and a way of life of Christians is urgently needed qualitively and quantitively.
Fourth, church school, that is, church education has fallen down into a simple organization from the church, which is making disintegration a sped of a religious body concerning church education worse day by day.
In order to have a good quality education of a true Christian and church education, we must pursue a true church education headed for by the Bible not as a formal organization.
Fifth, the training system for professional teachers is required so that church education may have its complete function of educational education and life-long education, and the subsequent revision of educational curriculum and the establishment and management of an educational curriculum with a professional qualification are also required.
