Abstract
This paper aims at studying management consulting performance factors influencing on Enterprise-Supporting Company's upgrading image targeting on small and medium-sized businesses and consultants supported with Management Consulting costs by Korea Credit Guarantee Fund (KODIT). In other words, this study is supposed to comprehend whether the consulting diagnosed company, supported by KODIT, whose consulting participation degree, the consultant's capability and company's practice willingness for improvement from the consulting result can affect positive influence to the consulting satisfaction - that represents the consulting supporting performance. Also, according to the Consulting Satisfaction, this attempts to find out if there will be positive influence on the KODIT's upgrading image.
As a result of the study, diagnosed company's participation level or practice willingness has no influence on the consulting satisfaction and the Consultant Performance Attitude(P<.001) or the Consulting Content Validity(P<.001) which is in the low part of the Consulting Capacity affects to some degree on the consulting satisfaction. The Power of Explanation that represents the consulting satisfaction is 62%. The consulting content validity(β=.453) has the highest influence on the consulting satisfaction and the consultant performance attitude(β=.335) follows the next. Also, conducting a study on the effect which affects upgrading enterprise -supporting company's image, it turns out that only the consultant performance attitude(P<.001) or the consulting content validity(P<.001) can influence upgrading enterprise-supporting company's image. It showed that the higher the consultant performance attitude(b=.390) and the consulting content validity(b=.259) are, the better the enterprise-supporting company's image is. And the power of explanation that represents the enterprise-supporting company's upgrading image was 39.5%. On the other hand, we also found out the influence that consulting satisfaction, which is related to the performance of management consulting, affects to the enterprise-supporting company's upgrading image. As a result, we can say that the consulting satisfaction affects to some degree on the enterprise-supporting company's upgrading image(P<.001) and the higher the consulting satisfaction (b=.460), the higher the enterprise-supporting company's upgrading image(b=.460).
According to the study, in order to obtain consulting performance for the enterprise-supporting company's upgrading image, it turns out that the consulting capability is the most important factor. That is, we need to manage consultant's performance attitude and the consulting content validity which belong to the low level of the consulting capability. The consultant performance attitude signifies consultant' honesty, timely responsiveness for company' requirements, propriety on performance process, and so on. It means that the consultant's ethics and honesty should be managed appropriately. Also, the consulting content validity is the capacity of drawing problems or improvements from the diagnosed company and it means that we need excellent consultants who have a wide range of consulting experience when contracting with consultants.
The limitation of this study is that when we estimate many variables about the result of consulting, we did not allow for the management performance of the diagnosed company. After conducting the management consulting, it can be possible to figure out the financial performance within short time, but we have to consider that mostly it takes around two to three years or more. By continuously analyzing the financial performance focused on the diagnosed company, we need to find out additionally: concerning the substantial management performance, how much the consulting was helpful and which factor was the strongest one to affect the performance.
