- Abstract
- This study is to find a plan for the expansion of nurses's role as a part of the activation plan of the home care elderly's welfare for the senior citizen's society.
The objector of this study are 210-sampled elderlies and 207-sampled nurses during two weeks from April 9th to 21st, 2001.
The survey analysis are the frequency, the average, and the standard deviation by SPSS/PC^+ method with Chi-squre test, T-test, Anova, Pearson correlation, and simple regression.
According to this analysis, the result is as follows.
1. The result of sampled-elderly
The average age of the sampled-elderly is 72.9 years old, and the sex of the objector are 43.8% of men and 56.2% of women.
By reason that these sampled elderlies usually get help from their children when they need nursing, it gives a preview of the necessary of the health and welfare program for the home care elderly.
Above 90% of these sampled elderlies want to stay at home with their families and only 2% of them want to join the stay.
According to the rate of recognition, utilization, and necessary of the home care health and affair service for the sampled elderly, the best program is the visitation-nursing program by public health center.
The factors that have an effect upon the rate of utilization of the day care center are their age (p<0.01) and the status of marriage (p<0.01), and the factor of short-term stay is whether they have a job or not.
The rate of utilization of the visiting-nursing program by public health center is influenced by general characteristics of the objector, and the factor that has an effect upon the rate of utilization of the home care nursing program is their age (p<0.01).
The program which the objected elderly need to is 89% of health care service and 81.9% of physical therapy service.
2. the result of sampled-nurse
The average age of the objected nurse is 32.4 years old and they have worked for 7 years and 6 months on the average.
The 68.1% of them are working at the hospital and the 31.9% of them are working at the public health center. And only 21.7% of them are taking care of the elderly's health services now.
The most executive program of the hospital for the elderly is nursing for patient on 55.7% of their work, and it of the public health center is measuring patient's blood pressure and blood sugar on 46.2% of their work.
The most deficient program of hospital for the elderly is the health counseling and education on 29.7% of their work, and it of the public health care center is physical therapy service.
The nurse who work at the hospital for the home care elderly's health and welfare program think that the most important role of their work is care and cure for the patient, and the health counseling and education on each 37.9% of their work.
The nurse who work at the public health center think that the most important program of their work is the health counseling and education on 37.9% of their work.
The big problem which the nurse both who work at hospital and the public health center manage the elderly health program is lack of man-power from each 41.8% and 47.0% of research.
The most necessary program for the home care elderly's health and welfare service is to secure man-power and up-grade of their capability. And also it might make activate the home visiting program, the health counseling and education for the healthy elderlies.
According to this study, the suggestion is as follows.
First, the nursing experts who spread by each program and centers should have quality and capability for the elderly's health demand.
Second, it should secure nursing experts for each program for the elderly's demand.
Third, it must secure various facilities for the home care nursing and health service.
Finally, it should prepare the man-power network which might help separate and cooperate their work for the home care elderly's health and welfare program.
