유휴공간 리노베이션의 플랫폼화 특성에 관한 연구

Abstract

현대에서는 산업의 패러다임이 변화하며 과거의 경제 발전의 중심이 되었던 산업시설이 유휴공간으로 탈바꿈하는 현상이 발생하였다. 용도가 없이 방치되어 있는 유휴공간은 사회적인 문제를 발생시켰다. 한정되어 있는 토지 내에서 이러한 비효율적인 토지활용은 유휴공간에 대한 활성화 방안의 논의로 이어졌다. 또한 생활수준의 향상으로 시민의 문화 향유에 대한 욕구가 증가 하였다. 이를 해결하기 위해 정부에서는 문화적인 가치 혁신을 통하여 유휴공간을 활성화하기 위한 정책을 시행하였다. 문화적 가치 혁신이란 지역의 장소적, 역사적 가치를 문화를 매개로 하며 해당 지역의 구성원들과 함께 사회적 플랫폼을 구축하는 것을 목적으로 한다.

16세기 이후 생성된 플랫폼이라는 용어는 그 의미가 확장되며 현재에는 거대 기업들의 성공적인 전략으로 떠오르며 주목받고 있다. 플랫폼에서 이루어지는 다양한 가치의 교환은 공동체를 활성화 시키며 네트워크 효과를 가져 온다. 또한 사용자의 만족도를 높이고 부가적인 수익을 창출하여 다시 많은 이용자를 확보하는 순환 형태의 시스템이 구축된다. 유휴공간 또한 리노베이션 후에도 지속적인 유지와 상호작용을 위한 구성, 새로운 문화적 가치의 생성, 경제적 이익의 창출을 요구한다. 따라서 유휴공간에서 리노베이션이 이루어질 때 플랫폼의 특성을 적극 수용하고 반영하는 것이 필요하다고 사료된다.

연구 방법으로는 우선 유휴공간의 개념과 발생에 대하여 이해하고 유휴공간에서 이루어지는 리노베이션 개념과 방법에 대해 고찰한다. 또한 플랫폼에 대한 이론적인 개념을 이해하며 플랫폼에 관한 선행연구를 통해 공간에서 나타나는 플랫폼의 특성을 도출한다. 유휴공간의 리노베이션 방법과 공간 플랫폼의 특성을 사례대상지에 대입하며, 사례의 분석을 통해 유휴공간의 리노베이션에서 갖추어야할 플랫폼의 특성을 제안한다. 리노베이션이 진행된 유휴공간 총 8곳의 대상지를 공간 구분 별로 공간 플랫폼의 특성, 리노베이션 방법으로 구분하여 분석한 결과, 공간 플랫폼의 특성에서 상호성과 접근성은 높게 나타났으나 개방성과 가변성은 낮게 나타났다. 따라서 유휴공간의 리노베이션에서는 플랫폼의 특성인 가변성과 개방성의 표현 요소를 도입 하는 것이 사료된다. 유휴공간의 리노베이션에서 미흡하게 나타났던 가변성과 개방성은 내부의 유연한 변경과 확장과 축소가 이루어지는 변형의 방법을 통하여 보완할 수 있다고 판단된다. 유휴공간의 재창조된 기능과 가치에 맞는 이미지 변화를 이끌어내기 위해서는 과거의 건축물에는 존재하지 않았던 요소들과 새로운 자재의 도입을 고려하는 것이 요구된다.

본 연구는 앞서 도출한 플랫폼 특성이 유휴공간의 리노베이션에서 표현되는 양상에 대하여 분석하고 정리한 것에 의의가 있다. 따라서 본 연구를 통하여 유휴공간에서 리노베이션은 지역의 가치와 부합하며 플랫폼적 특성을 반영한 공간을 구성함에 따라 지역과 사회의 문화거점을 제공함과 동시에 경쟁력 있는 공간으로 지속될 수 있도록 기대한다.|In modern times, the paradigm of industry has changed and industrial facilities, which have been the center of economic development in the past, have been transformed into idle spaces. Unused idle space has caused social problems. These inefficient land use within limited land led to discussions on ways to revitalize idle spaces. The improvement of living standards also increased citizens' desire to enjoy culture. To address this problem, the government implemented policies to promote idle space through cultural value innovation. Cultural value innovation aims to establish a social platform with local members, with local and historical values as a medium for culture.

The term platform, created after the 16th century, has expanded its meaning and has now emerged as a successful strategy for large companies. The exchange of various values on the platform activates the community and has a network effect. In addition, a circular system will be established to increase user satisfaction and generate additional revenue to secure more users.

Idle space also requires configuration for sustained maintenance and interaction after renovation, creation of new cultural values and creation of economic benefits. Therefore, when renovation takes place in idle space, it is deemed necessary to actively accept and reflect the characteristics of the platform.

As a research method, we first understand the concept and occurrence of idle space and consider the concept and method of renovation in idle space. It also understands the theoretical concept of the platform and derives the characteristics of the platform appearing in space through prior research on the platform. The renovation method of idle space and the characteristics of space platform are applied to the case site, and the analysis of the case suggests the characteristics of the platform to be equipped in the renovation of idle space.

According to the analysis of the target sites of a total of eight idle spaces that were renovated by dividing them into the characteristics of the space platform, space classification, and renovation methods, the characteristics of the space platform showed high interoperability and accessibility, but low openness and variability. Therefore, it is thought that in the renovation of idle space, the expression elements of variability and openness, which are characteristics of the platform, are introduced. The variability and openness shown in the renovation of idle spaces can be complemented by flexible internal changes and transformations in which expansion and reduction are made. It is necessary to consider the introduction of new materials and components that did not exist in past buildings in order to bring about changes in images that fit the recreated functions and values of idle spaces.

This study is meaningful in analyzing and organizing aspects of platform characteristics previously derived in the renovation of idle spaces. Therefore, through this study, it is expected that in idle space, renovation will be consistent with local values and will continue to be a competitive space while providing a cultural hub for the region and society as it forms a space that reflects the platform characteristics.
