實驗映畵에 나타난 視覺藝術의 特性에 관한 硏究

Abstract

실험영화는 영화의 탄생과 동시에 시작된 예술 형식이다. 기계 문명이 세상의 중심으로 자리 잡기 시작한 20세기의 초반부터 실험영화는 그 형식과 내용을 변화해 가며 가장 진보적인 예술 형태로 발전해 왔다. 실험영화는 그 내용에 있어서는 당대의 사회적 현상과 문화의 정도를 가늠해 볼 수 있는 주요한 미학적 수단이었으며 그 형식에 있어서는 과학 기술을 광범위하게 이용한 새로운 예술 형식으로서의 진화를 거듭해 왔다. 이 논문은 20세기 예술의 가장 혁신적인 사건인 반복과 복사의 예술을 대표하고 있고 가장 대중적인 매체로 이해되고 있는 영화라는 장르 속에서 항상 새롭게 시도되고 재현되어 온 실험영화의 발생과 전개 과정을 중심으로 역사적인 서술을 시도하였다. 그 방법으로서 실험영화의 또 다른 이름으로 불리어 지고 있는 아방가르드의 이해와 그 저변에 깔겨 있는 모더니즘 이념을 해석하는데 중점을 두었으며 실험영화의 내용을 당시의 역사 문화적 현상과 더불어 분석함으로써 실험영화를 가장 진보적인 예술 도구로 이해하고 연구하였다. 그러나 단순한 역사적인 서술로 그친 것이 아니라 오늘날에도 진행되고 있는 실험영화의 사회적 기능과 문화 형식으로서의 역할을 살펴봄으로서 다른 예술 매체와 차별화 되는 문제에 중점을 두었다. 실험영화는 그것이 의사 소통의 수단으로 쓰일 때나 학문적 연구의 대상으로 여겨질 때에도 그 자체로서 제도권 밖에서 꾸준히 성장해온 가장 전위적인 예술 형태임에는 틀림없다. 따라서 실험영화는 아직도 발전 선상에 놓여 있는 열린 예술 형태이며 앞으로도 영상 예술을 이해하는데 가장 큰 바탕이 될 진행형의 예술 형태로서 지속적인 연구를 가능하게 하는 잠재력을 지니고 있다고 하겠다.|Experimental film is a genre of arts which has been created simultaneously with the film. Since the early 20th century when mechanical civilization became the core of people's life, experimental film has been developed as the most revolutionary form of arts while changing its form and contents. With regard to its contents, experimental film was the aesthetic tool to understand contemporary social phenomena and the degree of culture. On the other hand, its form has been renovated as new technology was constantly applied. In this study, experimental film which is regarded as the most common media and an arts to express the most progressive event repeatedly have been examined. Particularly, historical study has been implemented based on its creation and the process of experiment. As the relevant methodology of study, those which are defined as another name of experimental film such as avan garde and modernism have been examined and interpreted. On top of that, contents of experimental film have been analyzed based on historical and cultural phenomena so that experimental film could be understood as the most renovative tool. However, its role of social function and cultural form has also been emphasized rather than merely examining its historical progress in order to focus on its differentiation in comparison with other arts media. Experimental film is undoubtedly the most avan garde arts form which has grown independently from social system irrespective of communicative arts or an object of academic study. Thus, it is still open genre of arts to progress. Unique features and characteristics of experimental film are the most significant to understand visual arts in future on an ongoing basis.. In conclusion, it is believed that experimental film possesses a great potential to enable constant study as the progressing arts.
