Abstract
The cityscape reveals a cross section of the culture level of the county. The various signboards are the core elements consisting of the cityscape and the city image.
This study is for the improvement of the visual environments. This study is analyzed the effects on the visual environment of the signboards, the influences on the signboards and the buildings and the buildings, the relations of the background and the elements of signboards, The signboards cannot be estimated qualitatively because it is affected by the systematic relation of the elements for the visual environment. This study indicates the elements of the visual enviromnent through the precedents and the various references. Also this study reveals the elements of the visual environment of the signboards through the analysis of the inquiry and the status quo. Especially this study is focused on the relation between the store signboards and the front view of buildings. for this study I made up a inquiry of the consumer's sense on the store signboards, Through this inquiry I abstracted 6 specific areas, investigated there, took photos of signboards and buildings apart, and took analysis in a point of view of the harmony between a part and the whole environment.
For the above this study have the inquiry and the investigation of the sample areas. In this study I classified the elements of the visual enviromnent, measured the specific contribution and the effective values through the analysis which element functionally contributes to the store signboard, and pursued the improvement of the store signboard in the ideal function of city environment.
First, the luminosity of facade of buildings and of the luminosity for the sigpboard are similar or the same in the aspect of visual environment. The color of signboard is the core element of visual environment because it is closely related to the color of surroundings. The color of signboard is changed according to the color of building, but the lightness ought not to be extreme bright or dark.
Second, the contrast between the size of the building and the size if the signboard depends on the shape of building, the shape of windows and the size of the buildings. Also the form of signboard is designed systematically.
Third, the color of signboard's ground and the color of the letter should be the same color, the bright color and the size of the letter should be small.
Fourth, graphics of the elements of the store signboard is used the most 22.08%. The photo is perfected to the illustration in the type of graphics. It shows visual aspect is more important because it can easily show the types of business.
Eventually the store signboard should be in harmony with the shape of building. Today the signboard is the most important factor that injures the beauty of city. For there is no conception, the design of signboard in harmony with the architecture. The signboard should not be understood the signboard itself and be designed. It should be understood a part of visual environment and designed in aspect of the harmony with the existing buildings.
In conclusion. at the moment of this study it is realized the signboard is the aggregate of the various components. Therefore it is limited the signboards of visual environment is totally studied. But I'll hope this study is helpful for the total improvement of the visual environment of city.
