문화 지식 분류를 통한 한국 문화 교육 방안 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 원활한 의사소통 능력 습득이라는 언어 교육의 기본적인 목표를 바탕으로 한국어교육을 위한 한국 문화 교육의 내용 구성 및 문화 교육 방안 마련에 목적을 둔다. 최근 언어 교육 분야에서 문화 교육의 필요성이 증가하고 있으며 학습자의 요구도 높아지고 있으나 실제 한국어교육 현장에서 사용되고 있는 한국어 교재의 내용은 여전히 언어 지식 위주로 구성되어 있으며 문화 지식은 언어 지식 습득의 부수적인 정보로 제공되고 있다. 또한 문화 교육 내용은 주로 물리적 현상이나 단순한 사실적 정보의 전달에 그치고 있어 이를 통해 한국 문화에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 한 진정한 의사소통 능력을 습득하는 데 한계가 있는 것으로 판단된다. 본고에서는 진정한 언어 능력 습득을 위해 좀 더 적극적인 문화 교육이 이루어져야 할 필요성을 인식하고, 한국어 교재에서 한국 고유의 문화 항목을 반영하고 교육할 수 있는 문화 지식 위주의 교육 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 광범위한 문화의 개념을 교육에 적용하기 위해 문화와 교육에 관한 여러 이론을 고찰하여 문화를 교육의 내용인 지식으로 재개념화 하고, 지식 분류 체계를 활용하여 크게 사실적 지식과 방법적 지식으로 구분하였으며, 이를 다시 교재에 활용할 수 있는 세부 항목으로 나누어 제시하였다. 문화 지식의 분류에서 사실적 지식은 물리적 사물 및 현상에 관한 일반적 지식이며, 방법적 지식은 사실적 지식을 바탕으로 해당 문화권 사람들의 생활양식 및 행동 방식을 이해하여 실제 대화에서 상황과 맥락에 맞는 자연스러운 의사소통을 할 수 있도록 하는 상황 대처 능력 및 문제 해결 능력에 도움을 줄 수 있는 지식으로 정의하였다. 본고에서는 지금까지 한국어교육을 위한 한국 문화 교육이 사실적 지식 위주로 이루어져 온 점을 인식하고, 진정한 의사소통 능력 습득을 위해서는 방법적 지식 위주의 문화 교육이 이루어져야 함을 제안하였다. 또한 문화의 세부 항목에 있어서는 기존 연구 결과를 토대로 한국 문화를 성취문화, 정보문화, 행동문화로 구분하였다. 또한 현행 한국어 교재의 내용 구성 및 문화 교육 내용을 분석하여 한국 문화 교육이 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지를 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 한국어 교재에 한국 문화에 대한 교육 내용이 좀 더 적극적으로 이루어질 수 있도록 하는 문화 지식 중심의 교수-학습 방안을 고안하였다. 본 연구는 지금까지 한국어교육 분야에서 언어 교육의 부수적 정보에 머물러 있던 문화의 개념을 적극적으로 이끌어내고, 사실적 지식 위주의 문화 교육에 대한 시각을 실제 의사소통 능력 향상에 도움을 줄 수 있는 방법적 지식 중심으로 전환하고자 하였다는 점에 의의가 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 의사소통 능력 향상을 위한 적극적인 문화 교육에 관한 연구의 토대가 될 수 있을 것이며, 앞으로 좀 더 다양한 문화 항목에 관한 구체적 교육 방안 및 학습자 변인을 고려한 체계적인 교육 방안 마련에 관한 논의가 이어지기를 기대한다.| This dissertation aims to provide a method of teaching Korean culture within the confines of Korean language education for the purpose of communicating in the Korean language proficiently. The need for cultural education in Korean language education is increasing. Although this need is prevalent, it is still not enough to learn about Korean culture from current Korean textbooks. This shift from current Korean textbooks is important, as the textbooks at present are focused on linguistic knowledge such as the grammar, vocabulary, and expressions. This linguistic-based teaching fails to provide enough cultural knowledge about Korea for the learners. This dissertation is focused on the importance of cultural knowledge in learning language and aims to give a discriminatory method of teaching Korean culture. For this method, the 'culture' is re-conceptualized to the 'knowledge' as an educational object by researching the results of previous studies about the culture and the education. Cultural knowledge is classified into two categories, factual knowledge and methodological knowledge. This classification is based on the taxonomy of knowledge and subdivided into details which can be utilized in Korean textbooks. Factual knowledge refers to general information about cultural objects and facts. Methodological knowledge includes information about the ways of life and behavioral characteristics of people. Methodological knowledge can helpful for learners as it teaches learners how to act naturally and communicate in Korean proficiently. This dissertation attempts to offer a discriminatory method of teaching Korean culture by changing the focus from factual knowledge to methodological knowledge. Korean culture is subdivided into three forms of culture - culture of achievement, culture of information, and culture of behavior. This dissertation is significant as it recognizes the importance of cultural education and attempts to change the perspective on culture from simply being the "additional information" for language learning to the subject of language education. This dissertation suggests a revitalization in the structure of teaching Korean culture from fact-based to method-based teaching. The result of this dissertation is expected to provide information on anticipated future studies in Korean cultural education for proficient communication in the Korean language. Another expectation is that there will be many other studies in Korean cultural education focused on various subjects such as how to teach the detailed items of Korean culture and how to meet the various demands of learners.
