무용 창작 [COUNT] 에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 강사 김미경이 강연했던 사회적 알람이라는 주제를 가지고 현대 사회에서 보편적으로 일어나는 행위인 인간의 삶에서 특정 시기에 따라 어떠한 목표를 강요, 채근하는 것에 대한 사회적 현상을 표현하여 보는 이들에게 연구자가 의도하는 의미를 확실히 전달하기 위한 연구와 분석이다. 한국 뿐 아니라 많은 나라의 청년들은 사회적 알람으로 인해 자신의 길을 스스로 정하지 못하고 소위 일반적이라 여겨지는 시기를 맞추려 쫓기듯 삶을 살아간다. 그 시기를 놓치면 마치 다른 사람들 보다 뒤쳐진 양 여겨지기도 한다. 부모의 품을 벗어나 독립 하였어도 끊이지 않는 타인의 시선과 때로는 스스로 조차도 사회적 알람 속에 자신을 가두기도 한다. 나는 온전한 나의 주체적인 삶을 살아가고 있는가, 앞만 보고 바쁘게 살아가는 현대인들은 한번쯤 멈추고 돌아볼 시간도 필요하다. 사회적 알람에 대한 강연은 이전에 획일화 되었던 삶을 살던 사회로부터 점차 자신의 삶을 살길 원하는 사람들이 많아지는 사회로 변하는 과정 중 자연스럽게 생겨나게 된 주장이라 볼 수 있다. [COUNT] 는 해당 강연이 주었던 사회적 알람이라는 단어를 모티브로 관객들에게 누구나 그러한 알람을 가지고 있으나 그 알람을 과감히 깨버릴지 아니면 흐름에 순응하는 삶을 살아갈지 에 대한 질문을 던지고자 한다. 사회적 알람을 정의하기 위해 알람의 특징과 그에 따른 반응, 타인과 사회를 살아가며 느낄 수 있는 감정과 상호작용, 그리고 흐름에 대한 순응과 불응이라는 세 가지 개념을 가지고 작품을 구성하였다. 전체 세장의 구성으로 이루어진 이 작품은 개인과 사회의 흐름을 나타내는 알람시계와 동작들로 구성이 되어 있으며, 이러한 흐름을 아이라는 존재에게 입혀진 큰 셔츠와 꽉 채워진 단추들을 통해 작품의 분위기를 상징적으로 나타내고 있다. 작품에 대한 의도를 명확하게 전달하기 위해 이상과 현실로 나뉜 무용수들의 역할분리와 움직임, 무대공간 구성, 조명, 소품, 음악과 영상으로 나누어 작품을 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통해 사회적 알람은 큰 파도 속에서 휩쓸리지 않고 멈출 수 있는 용기, 혹은 그 흐름을 자신의 흐름으로 주도권을 바꿔 잡을 수 있는 지혜를 깨닫고 선택하게 한다는 것이다. 자신의 삶의 방향성을 되짚는 행위 자체가 스스로의 삶의 새 호흡이 된다는 생각을 갖게 되었다. 이러한 현상이 결코 부정적인 것만은 아니라는 것이다. 그것들은 각자의 삶 가운데 어떤 무언가에 의존하던 삶에서 좀 더 독립적인 삶으로서의 발판이 되고, 개개인에게 각각 다른 방면의 영향을 미치고 있을 것이기에 해당 현상에 대한 인식을 어떻게 바라보느냐는 관객들의 몫이다. | Prompted by the theme of social alarm, a lecture by Migyeong Kim, through a form of a performance, this study aims to express the widespread social phenomenon of being forced to pursue a certain goal in life and to provoke questions to audiences. Young people in many countries as well as in Korea live their lives as if they are pursuing a generalized life path and therefore cannot determine their own way of living due to social alarms. If one misses a certain period of the generalized path, s/he is considered to be lagging behind other people. Even if they are independent from their parents, they often confine themselves to the perpetual gaze of others, and sometimes even themselves in social alarms. Modern people who are busy going forward only, at times, need to pause to reflect their lives and ask if they are living their lives on my own terms? The lecture on social alarms in a way is a response to the social transition from a uniformed way of living to unique ways of living on their own terms whose trend is on the rise. "COUNT" attempts to raise questions to those who have the social alarm as the motive but are not sure whether to boldly turn off the alarm or live a life that conforms to the flow. In order to define the social alarm, the performance was composed of three concepts: the characteristics of the alarm and the reaction to it, emotions and interactions arising from living as a social being, and compliance and refusal to flow. This performance, which consists of three major chapters, is composed of alarm clocks and choreographs that show the flow of individuals and society. A button-filled shirt worn by a child symbolically represents the overall ambiance of the performance. So as to deliver the intention of the performance more clearly, we analyzed the performance in separate subjects, such as dancers’ roles divided by ideal and reality, the stage space composition, lighting, props, music and images. From this study, we suggest that we can choose to have the courage to pause and the wisdom to change the direction of the flow on our own terms, without being swayed by the big wave of the social alarm. The act of reflecting the direction of one’s own life per se is tantamount to taking a fresh new breath of one’s own life. And that is not a bad thing at all. It is entirely up to the audience how to interpret this phenomenon, because we all are on a different stage of our own life journey.
