무용작품「화정(華政)-죽은 듯이」 에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 정명공주가 서궁 생활을 하던 때의 감정을 중점적으로 표현한 무용작품「화정(華政) - 죽은 듯이」를 통해 정명공주의 마음 다스리는 방법에 대해 탐구하고자한다. 무용작품 「화정(華政) - 죽은 듯이」는 정명공주의 삶에 대한 배경적 지식을 바탕으로 정명공주의 주요 사건을 나열하고 그 안에서 정명공주가 느낀 감정을 중심으로 표현하며, 또한 현대적으로 재해석하여 창작되어진 무용작품이다. 본 연구에서는 무용작품「화정(華政) - 죽은 듯이」의 형식과 구조, 구성요소, 표현방법, 의상, 소품, 조명, 음악 등의 요소를 중점적으로 비평적인 관점에서 분석하고자한다. 무용작품「화정(華政) - 죽은 듯이」는 정명공주의 삶의 주요 사건인 아버지 선조의 죽음과 계축옥사로 인한 신분강등, 서궁 유폐사건을 바탕으로 정명공주의 감정변화를 중점적으로 표현하였으며, 현대적으로 무용화하여 창작하였다. 정명공주 아버지인 선조의 죽음을 시작으로 정명공주가 그림자를 경계하며, 그림자에게 위협을 당하면서 정명공주의 신분이 강등되었다. 또한 정명공주가 그림자 안에 갇혀 두려움과 벗어나고 싶지만 벗어날 수 없는 감정이 고조되면서 현실에 부딪혀 체념하며, 아버지와의 추억이 있는 붓을 이용해 서예를 함으로써 자신의 마음을 다스리며 현실을 견디는 것을 비유적으로 표현했다. 연구자는 본 연구 과정을 통해 정명공주가 자신의 삶속에서 시련을 어떻게 하여 극복해냈는지에 대해 강조하고자 하였으며 현재 자신의 삶을 살아가면서 끊임없이 시련의 연속을 겪고 있을 현대인들에게 간접적이나마 정명공주의 ‘빛나는 다스림’을 통해 남을 다스리기 전에 나 자신부터 다스리며 시련과 갈등하는 현실에서 공생하는 지혜를 가지는 원동력이 되었으면 한다.| This study aims to explore Princess Jeongmyeong’s meditative techniques revealed in the dance piece, ‘Hwajeong - As if Dead,’ which zooms in on the emotions that were felt during her stay at Seogoong Palace. Based on the life of Princess Jeongmyeong, the dance piece ‘Hwajeong’ lists the major events of Princess Jeongmyeong’s life and paints her state of emotions in each respective event. Furthermore, ‘Hwajeong’ reinterprets them in a modern way. In this study, ‘Hwajeong’will be analyzed from a critical point of view with emphasis on elements such as form, structure, composition, expression, costume, props, lighting, and music. The dance piece ‘Hwajeong’ depicts the major events of Princess Jeongmyeong’s life, namely, the death of her father King Seonjo, high treason case in the year of Gyechuk that resulted in the loss of her royal status, and subsequent banishment to Seogoon Palace. At the same time, ‘Hwajeong’ explores the emotional changes that Princess Jeongmyeong experiences and expresses them using modern choreography. Following the death of her father King Seonjo, Princess Jeongmyeong starts to fear the shadows, and her royal status is demoted due to the threats posed by these shadows. Also, Princess Jeongmyeong is locked inside the shadows, and she wishes to escape this fear but her inability to escape heightens her emotions and she relinquishes in the end. This piece metaphorically depicts her way of coping with her harsh reality, which is through her practice of calligraphy that stems from her memories with her father. This author places emphasis on how the Princess overcomes the hardships of her life in this study, and wishes to inspire modern citizens who constantly struggle with their own hardships in their lives through Princess Jeongmyeong’s ‘radiant teachings.’ Furthermore, the author hopes to motivate readers to tame oneself first before taming others, which will help people to coexist in a reality where constant conflicts abound.
