무용 작품 「나를 찾아서」에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 현재의 밀레니얼세대가 가진 불확실한 미래로 인한 불안함에서 비롯된 고민을 주제로 만들어진 현대무용 작품 「나를 찾아서」에 대한 표현방법 연구와 분석이다. 지금 이 시대를 살아가는 각 세대들은 인생을 살아가며 많은 고민을 가졌었고 현재에도 가지고 있다. 6·25전쟁 이후 출생한 베이비붐세대는 국가와 가족을 위해 살아왔지만 아무도 알아주지 않는 현실에 대한 고민과 은퇴 이후 부모와 자식에 대한 이중부양으로 생기는 경제적인 고민을 가지고 있다. 1960년대에 태어난 386세대는 부조리한 사회에 맞서 정의로운 사회를 만들어야겠다는 고민과 현재에는 고임금 일자리를 독점한다는 사회의 질타를 받으며 은퇴의 갈림길에서 생기는 고민을 가지고 있다. 1970~1980년대에 태어난 X세대는 자신의 자유와 개성을 표현하는 것이, 개인주의적이고 자신이 좋아하는 것만 한다는 사회의 비판에서 비롯된 고민과 현재에는 새로운 시도나 변화보다는 안정을 추구한다는 비판에서 비롯된 고민을 가지고 있다. 1981~1996년에 태어난 밀레니얼세대는 불확실한 미래에서 비롯된 고민과 사회생활 속에 만들어지는 인간관계에 대한 고민을 가지고 있다. 이렇듯 모든 세대가 시대와 상황에 따른 고민이 있으며 이러한 고민들에 대하여 분석을 한 본 연구자는 밀레니얼세대의 고민에서 비롯된 문제점에 초점을 맞추어 연구를 진행하였고 밀레니얼세대에 해당되는 본 연구자를 작품에 투영시켜 표현하였다. 밀레니얼세대의 불확실한 미래에서 비롯된 고민을 전달하기 위해 [밀레니얼세대 = 본 연구자], [사회생활 중에 겪는 인간관계 = 무용수], [종이컵 = 고민], 이 세 가지의 설정을 가지고 「나를 찾아서」라는 작품을 제작하였다. 총 다섯 장으로 구성된 이 작품은 밀레니얼세대가 겪는 불확실한 미래에 대한 고민과 사회생활 속에 만들어지는 인간관계에 대한 고민을 해결해나가는 과정과 그에 따라 생기는 시련과 갈등을 표현하였고 이를 위한 표현방법 및 소품을 사용하였다. 작품의 주제를 효과적으로 전달하기 위해 종이컵이라는 소품을 반복적으로 쌓거나 찾는 행위와 종이컵에 대고 말을 하거나 소리치는 행위를 하였다. 그리고 위의 고민 중 사회생활 속에 만들어지는 인간관계에 대한 고민을 세 명의 무용수들과의 움직임을 통하여 다양한 방식으로 표현하였다. 이에 본 연구는 무대의 공간 구성과 작품에 쓰이는 움직임 방법, 이미지, 작품에서 주제를 은유하는 소품의 의미로 나누어 작품을 분석하였다. 본 연구과정을 통해 발견 한 것은 현재의 밀레니얼세대가 가진 고민과 같이 이전 세대들 또한 각 시대와 상황에 따른 고민이 있었다는 것이다. 그리하여 본 연구자의 작품을 보는 이들에게 밀레니얼세대의 관점으로 바라본 고민이라는 주제를 다양한 시각, 움직임 방법으로 해석하고 표현하였다는 것을 「나를 찾아서」라는 현대무용 창작 작품을 통해 알려 주고자 한다. |This thesis is a research and analysis on the expression methods of a contemporary dance work 「In Search of Me」 created under the theme of concerns originated from anxiety about uncertain future of current Millennials. Each generation of this era has kept many concerns about life. The baby boom generation who was born after the Korean War has a concern about the reality in which no one recognizes their sacrifice for the nation and family, and an economic concern about double-responsibility of elderly care and childcare after retirement. The 386 generation who was born in the 1960s has a concern about making righteous society by standing against absurd society, and a concern at a crossroads such as getting social criticism about monopolizing high-paying jobs, and retirement. The X-generation born in the 1970s~1980s has a concern originated from social criticism about their individualism and tendency to express their freedom, individuality, and preference, and a concern originated from criticism about their pursuit of stability rather than new attempts or changes. The Millennials born in 1981~1996 has a concern originated from uncertain future, and a concern about interpersonal relationship in social life. Like this, every generation has concerns according to time and situation, and the researcher who has analyzed such concerns conducted a research focusing on problems originated from concerns of Millennials, and then expressed a work by reflecting the researcher belonging to Millennials into the work. To deliver the concerns originated from uncertain future of Millennials, the researcher produced a work 「Looking for Myself」 based on three settings such as [Millennials = the researcher], [Interpersonal relationship during social life = dancer], and [Paper cup = concern]. This work composed of total five chapters represented the process of solving concerns about uncertain future and interpersonal relationship in social life of Millennials, and following ordeals and conflicts, by using expression methods and props. In order to effectively deliver the theme of this work, the acts like repetitively stacking up paper cups as props, searching for them, or speaking to or yelling at the paper cups were performed. And the concern about interpersonal relationship in social life was represented into various methods through movements of three dancers. Thus, this study analyzed the work by dividing it into space composition of stage, movement method and image used in the work, and the meanings of props metaphorically expressing the theme of the work. In the research process, this study found that the former generations also had concerns according to time and situation just as the current Millennials’ concerns. Therefore, the researcher aims to show the viewers of this work that the contemporary dance creative work 「In Search of Me」 has interpreted and represented the concerns in the perspective of Millennials into various viewpoints and movement methods.
