다문화 교육에 대한 어린이집 교사의 인식과 실태에 관한 연구
- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to make a survey study of the degree that the nursery teachers perceive multicultural education and the realities of education and find out the problem arising from the practice of multicultural education and the support scheme for activation of multicultural education.
To attain the goal of this study, it established the theoretical foundation through related literature and articles and then conducted the questionnaire research for 280 nursery teachers working at the nurseries located in the 'G' district of Seoul. The measurement instrument used for this study was Jeong Seon-hee's questionnaire modified and complemented to measure the belief in multicultural education and the practice of multicultural education. Data analysis was conducted using the SPSS 12.0 program, and at the significance level of p<.05, p<.01 and p<.001. Univariate regression was conducted for the research question 1 and 2 and percentage was conducted for the research question 3. As a result, the following conclusion was drawn:
First, in light of the difference in the perception of the belief in the goal of multicultural education, the nursery teachers in charge of the infants fully aged two and 1.5 years should be able to guide infants with openness and flexibility towards the infants of different races in the future. And they should make efforts to carry out teaching-learning activities so that they may cultivate the mind of respecting and cooperating each other in the community. And in view of the difference in the perception of nursery teachers' attitude towards and role in multicultural education, the teachers completing graduate school should enable the infants enrolled in the nursery to perceive multicultural diversity and take them into consideration so that they may acknowledge their diversity as it is and live a life.
Second, it is necessary to establish the smooth communication and cooperative attitude between teacher and infant's parents so as to carry out multicultural education effectively. And it is necessary to construct the partnership with each institution of the local community(multicultural support center, community center, competent district office).
Third, it was found that there was a high difference in the teachers' basic activity, physical exercise, communication, exploration activity and artistic experience activity in multicultural education according to educational level. The teachers with the low educational level(ones graduated from high school and junior college) need to make efforts to provide infants with the teaching-learning activity of experiencing diverse basic etiquettes of each country and their diverse play culture, living custom, verbal communication, animal and plant, artistic works and traditional rhythmic musical instruments.
Fourth, daycare facilities should reflect a wide range of cultural and historical traditions in multicultural educational programs for infants and apply the multicultural standards to them. And they should endeavor to exclude prejudices towards race, national origin, gender, and the like and form the democratic relationship. And they should have an interest in implementing the equal teaching method reflecting the learning and cultural characteristics of diverse groups.
