老人危機 克服을 위한 敎會內 老人福祉 서비스에 關한 硏究

Abstract

The trend towards nuclear families has brought changes to the family lives and values which has brought the elderly as a major social problem. After the Liberation, due to the induction of western culture, individualism and nuclear families have become general where the spirit of filial piety and respect based on familism was the principal value in our traditional society. Now such values are disappearing resulting in a crisis of the elderly due to social and psychological isolation and neglect from the society, the young, and the family. Such crisis is not a problem that can be solved personally or within the family. It is rather a problem that must be solved at a social or national level. In order to achieve the above aims, first the concept, its significance, and biblical understanding of the elderly crisis was looked into theoretically to state the different types and contents; then as a method to enhance readaptability to the community, ease solidarity, and increase the satisfaction of living for the elderly, planning a church welfare was suggested; and lastly in order to solve the ever increasing problems of the elderly, the church welfare service was suggested. As a result of analysing the service of the elderly welfare, first, with the community resources, ①there is Plenty of human resources to be used, ②church devotees can help financial problems, ③facilities of the church can be used and, ④a variety of structural elements can be provided to the elderly welfare service. Second, as types of church welfare service to the elderly, ①operation of the home for the aged which is an institution within the church, ②operation of senior schools in the church, and ③volunteering work for the elderly have been performed. However an analysis of these operations resulted in the following problems. ①There is lack of programs suitable for the characteristics of the elderly, ②the operators' lack of professional knowledge, ③limited participation in utilizing these facilities, ④defect in using related resources from the social welfare on the grounds of human resources, and ⑤the need to improve the methods and quality of the education and training. Based on the above problems, as a method to make the elderly service more active, ①it is necessary to get help from professional organizations dealing with the elderly welfare, ②there needs to be a more diverse program, ③it must outgrow from a closed operation system, and ④it must operate senior schools and bring in a paid volunteering system.
