기독교 창작 무용 「Euangelion」에 대한 연구

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and research the Christian creative dance, 「Euangelion」 focusing on the content and formal significance of the work. The researcher has come to feel the necessity of integrating a Christian world-view into dance art research for the activation and development of Christian dance. In response, the researcher chose the theme of salvation, one of the fundamental truths of the Christian world-view, and conceptualized the work using the words of the Bible as motifs for expression. The dance piece, 「Euangelion」 was developed based on Korean movements to create a form of expression that would make the audience feel connected to the narrative of Korea, minimizing emotional distance. Additionally, realistic choreography and storytelling techniques were applied to ensure that the content and message could be effectively conveyed to the audience, creating an experience akin to watching a dance drama. Christians recognize the importance of establishing a sound Christian world-view, where the foundation is grounded in the teachings of the Bible. A Christian must view, understand, decide, and act in the world using the threefold lens of creation, fall, and redemption, which are the fundamental truths of the Christian world-view and the Bible. Moreover, Christian artists, as instruments of praise to God, should strive to fulfill the role of light and salt not only within the church but also in the broader cultural context. Through creative endeavors, their works should manifest God's glory, and they must endeavor to reveal God and the Gospel in the world. This effort is not only for the glorification of God but also to serve as an instrument for His praise in both the church and the broader cultural sphere. "Euangelion" is a Greek word meaning "good news" or "gospel," signifying the joyous message of human salvation through Jesus Christ. The work, 「Euangelion」 consists of three movements, with a total duration of 13 minutes and 10 seconds. Using transitions in music and lighting, the piece creates a seamless flow between scenes. In the first movement, the audience experiences the moments from Jesus Christ's prayer in Gethsemane to the trials of the cross, the agony of death, the resurrection, and the ascension, as if witnessing these events in real life. It portrays God being present in every moment of Jesus' redemptive work, conveying love and strength, and expressing the joy of resurrection and victory through dance. The crucifix, symbolizing Jesus' mission, and a white cloth, representing God's heart and love, are used as props. Various lighting techniques are employed to enhance dramatic scenes. The final scene conveys the Triune God working together in the redemptive work through the use of white fabric and lighting effects. The second movement represents the dove, wind, and fire, symbolizing the Holy Spirit. These elements are visualized to create movement and expression. Additionally, to portray the renewed saints, the movement draws inspiration from Ezekiel's vision of dry bones coming to life, creating a concise and progressive choreography for a 5-member ensemble. The third movement depicts saints engaging in spiritual warfare symbolized by red fans representing full-body armor. To showcase their commitment to faith, proclamation of the gospel, and advancement towards the heavenly Zion, the choreography utilizes fan movements, various large-scale transformations, swift motions, and progressive forward actions for the 5-member ensemble. Additionally, vertical lighting is employed to highlight the collective movement of the ensemble. In this work, the researcher aimed to convey three specific meanings. Firstly, to integrate the redemptive work of Jesus Christ with the Christian world-view of salvation, presenting a clear gospel message. Secondly, to communicate to the audience that the redemptive work is a collaborative effort of the Triune God, with the God the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, being one essence yet distinct personalities according to orthodox Christian beliefs. Thirdly, to express the vision of renewed saints as a new creation, encapsulating our calling to uphold faith, proclaim the gospel, and hope for the kingdom of God, sharing these aspirations with the audience. Through this performance, the researcher hopes to see a future activation of creative works themed around Christian world-view, creation, fall, and redemption. Furthermore, the application of such creative works and performances could serve as a more active channel for evangelism and proclamation of the gospel, contributing to the revitalization and development of Christian dance. The researcher looks forward to the growth of Christian artistic expressions centered on these themes, aspiring for their active role as a bridge in evangelism and contributing to the vibrancy and advancement of Christian dance.|본 연구는 기독교 창작 무용, 「Euangelion」에 대한 분석연구로서, 작품 의 내용적, 형식적 의미를 연구하는 것에 목적을 두었다. 연구자는 기독교 무 용의 활성화 및 발전을 위하여 기독교 세계관을 접목한 무용 예술 연구의 필 요성을 느끼게 되었다. 이에 기독교 세계관의 근본 진리 중 하나인 구속을 주 제로 정하고, 성경의 말씀들을 표현의 모티브로 삼아 작품을 구상하게 되었다. 작품, 「Euangelion」은 한국적 움직임을 기반으로 표현방법을 연구하여 관객들이 우리나라의 이야기인 듯 느끼도록 정서적 거리감을 줄이고자 하였 다. 또한, 사실적인 표현의 안무와 스토리텔링 전개를 적용하여 마치 무용극을 보듯이 내용과 메시지가 관객들에게 잘 전달될 수 있도록 하였다. 그리스도인은 올바른 기독교 세계관의 정립이 필요한데, 기독교 세계관은 성경 말씀을 삶의 기준으로 삼는 것이다. 기독교 세계관과 성경의 근본 진리 인 창조, 타락, 구속 이 3중 렌즈를 모두 사용하여 세상을 바라보고, 이해하 고, 결정하고, 행동하는 것이 그리스도인에게는 꼭 필요하다. 아울러 기독교 예술인들은 하나님을 찬양하는 도구로, 하나님의 영광을 위하여, 창작 활동을 통해 만들어진 작품이 교회뿐 아니라 세상 문화 속에서도 빛과 소금의 역할을 감당하며 하나님과 복음을 드러낼 수 있도록 노력해야 한다. 유앙겔리온(Euangelion)은 “복음”을 뜻하는 그리스어(헬라어)로 예수 그리 스도를 통하여 인간을 구원하신다는 기쁨의 복된 소식을 의미한다. 작품, 「Euangelion」은 3장으로 구성되었고, 총 13분 10초가 소요되며, 내용의 흐 름에 따라 음악의 전환과 조명연출을 사용하여 장면 전환을 만들었다. 1장은 예수님의 겟세마네 기도부터 십자가 고난, 죽음, 부활, 승천을 관객 들이 현실에서 목도하는 듯 느껴지도록 표현하였다. 또한, 하나님이 예수님의 구속 사역이 이루어지는 모든 순간에 함께 하시며 마음과 힘을 전하고, 부활 과 승리의 기쁨을 예수님과 함께 춤으로 표현함을 장면으로 구성하였다. 예수 님의 사명인 십자가와 하나님의 마음과 사랑인 흰 천이 오브제로 사용되며, 극적인 장면이 부각 되도록 다양한 조명연출을 사용하였다. 마지막 장면은 삼 위일체 하나님이 함께 구속 사역을 이루어가신다는 것을 흰 천의 전달과 조명 연출을 통해 담아냈다. 2장은 성령의 임재를 표현한 것으로 비둘기, 바람, 불을 형상화하여 움직 임을 만들었다. 그리고 거듭난 성도들을 표현하기 위해서 마른 뼈가 살아나는 에스겔의 환상을 모티브로 하여 간결하고 점진적인 움직임의 5인 군무를 구성 하였다. 3장은 성도들이 전신 갑주를 상징하는 빨간 부채를 사용하여 영적 싸움을 하는 장면이다. 믿음을 지키고, 복음을 전하며, 하나님 나라 시온성을 향해 오 늘도 전진하는 모습을 보여주기 위해, 무기를 형상화한 부채의 움직임과 다양 한 대형 변화, 빠른 이동, 점진적인 전진 동작을 사용하여 5인 군무로 표현하 였다. 또한, 5인이 함께 모여 전진하는 모습이 잘 보이도록 세로구역 조명을 사용하여 효과를 높이고자 하였다. 작품 안에서 연구자가 표현하고자 했던 3가지 의미는 다음과 같이 정리할 수 있다. 첫째는 예수 그리스도의 구속 사역을 기독교 세계관의 구속과 연결 하여 명확한 복음의 내용으로 담고자 하였다. 둘째는 성부 하나님, 성자 예수 님, 보혜사 성령님이 하나의 본질이면서 구분된 세 인격이라는 기독교 정통적 신앙고백 위에 구속 사역이 삼위일체 하나님의 공동사역임을 관객들에게 전달 하려 하였다. 셋째는 새로운 피조물로 거듭난 성도의 비전 즉 우리의 소명을 담아 믿음을 지키고, 복음을 전하며, 하나님 나라를 소망하는 마음을 관객들과 나누고자 하였다. 연구자는 이번 작품공연을 통해 향후 기독교 세계관, 창조, 타락, 구속을 주제로 한 작품창작이 활성화되기를 바라본다. 더 나아가 이를 적용한 작품창 작과 공연이 복음 선포와 전도에 보다 적극적인 통로로써 가교역할을 하며, 기독교 무용의 활성화 및 발전에 이바지할 수 있기를 기대해 본다.
