Abstract
This study was intended to inquire into the evolution of church education and its characteristics. For this purpose, an attempt was made to collect, investigate and analyze the relevant literature, explore the evolution of church education and its characteristics and grope the future developmental direction of church education. As a result, both conclusion and suggestion were made as follows:
I. Conclusion
Firstly, the establishment of church education was intended to exclude the Jewish eschatological thought by Jesus and recreate Christian religion in a revolutional fashion by globalizing and opening it. Here, the Jewish wrong religion-view and national thought was negated and reformed.
Secondly, the educational climate in which prophets thought and prophesied for the sake of morality and social justice in prophet's education has been transformed into the oriental shamanistic religious climate by self-styled prophets nowadays.
Thirdly, education of the initiation of the First Church and the candidate for baptism gave birth to the tradition of sacrificial religion in education complete with a framework and the nowaday church should strive to give birth to sacrificial faith by carrying out this education fully and thoroughly.
Fourthly, the list of family precepts, bad conduct and good conduct in the moral home education of the First Church was at once the norms for the communal life of the religious community and new ethical and moral norms.
The present church should reinterpret this to suit the present-day situation and proceed to develop and succeed to it in a new and forward-looking direction.
Fifthly, seeing that three virtues such as "Honest poverty, chastity and pureness obedience" in education of the Medieval monastery were alkie the task and religious source that the church today will have to continue to interpret and develop, it should understand and solidofy them by recreating them as the virtues of future education.
Sixthly, the purpose of church education should be the "education seeking God's will", its content be "god's words and teaching", its educational method be "a new method". In this respect, the new educational management of the 21th century should be achieved with the "martyrish religious characteristic"
Seventhly, as the 21th-century humankind society will experience drastic social changes due to the paradigm of horizontal shift day by day, human beings come to have the problem of the "correct image of man before God" in an age of positive and negative uncertainty.
2. Suggestion
Accordingly, this study advocated the slogan of "evangelistic renaissance and futuristic church education". In an uncertain age, Jesus Christ came to this world as man, taught people with new evangels, shared his lot with poor, sick distressed and alienated neighbors and tax collectors and sinners isolated from society and branded as bad people, loved them and sacrificed himself for them. The life of Christ as man loving people on this world by doing so should again apply to society, people and church in the 21th century. With new 21th-century type of "new thought, value-view and human creation focused on Heaven worship and human love", the church should have respect for human life and present a new value-view. And with the improvement and support of future-typed management ability, mobility and problem-solving ability and global solidarity and thinking, the church should choose the direction for society to proceed itself, clearly present the way for society to go and guide it in a right direction. That is, the church should have the "furture-typed new evangelism and new religion".
Secondly, the church cannot survive unless it actively copes with the human problem so as to build the utopian society through "futuristic education" in the knowledge-and information-oriented society of the 21th century.
Therefore, church education is requiring a new shift in educational paradigm. Consequently, it is predicted that the future church is characterized by the development of ecumenism, the maximization of the ministry of lay believers, the increase of women's participation in church politics, and the development of churn' i marketing So, church education should be transformed from the borderless missionary work of the times and education for making lay belivers disciples to education for making lay believers apostles, form the educational network, seek the specialism of church education, and maximize the ministry of lay delivers. Church education at the end of the 20th century will have to be church education equipped with the power to understand the wave of the 21th century and adopt to changing society. Crisis is an opportunity.
When changes are seen and discerning wisdom is retained, future education will result.
