Abstract

일상성, 일상을 다루는 문제는 현대 영화 이후에 중요한 영화의 존재방식이 되었다. 영화는 이야기, 허구를 만들어내는 것 이전에 카메라 앞의 현실을 기록하는 것이라는 자각에 의해서 시작된 이것은 누벨바그 세대들의 의해 살찌워진 이후에 영화를 설명하는 중요한 개념을 이루게 된다. 그것은 특정화에서 불특정함에 대한 관심으로 넘어가는 지점이었으며, 제작에서 기록으로 넘어가는 지점이다. 그리고 들뢰즈식으로 말한다면, 운동과 시간이 영화의 집합성에 반발하고 해방되는 순간이기도 하다. 홍상수가 보여주는 일상은 이러한 현대영화의 줄기와 모두 관련된다. 인물들은 자연스러운 해방의 공간에 서 있으며, 카메라와 편집, 조명은 의미를 전달하거나 구속하는 의미가 아니라 이 해방을 기록하는 요소가 된다. 이러한 현대 영화의 특징을 한꺼번에 종합하는 용어 중에 하나가 '일상' 이라는 것이고, 이 일상은 아주 오랫동안 상상력, 허구와 반대편에 서 있었다. 현실 또는 현재를 기록하는 것은 '일상성'을 다루는 영화들의 핵심이며, 그것을 통해서 관객에게 현실의 모습을 만나게 해준다는 것도 마찬가지이다. 이러한 현대영화에서 상상력이 추방되는 것은 당연하다. 만약, 굳이 상상력이 자리 잡는다면, 그것은 일상에서 이루어질 만한 방향으로만 가능해진다. 즉, 일상과 상상은 이들 영화에선 벽을 사이에 두고 있는 것이다. |Since the emergence of modern movies, the problem of ordinariness and everyday life has been an important issue in the existence of film. The notion began when people realized that a movie should record the reality in front of camera before it creates a story or fiction. After fertilization by the New Wave movement, dailiness became an important idea in explaining a movie. It was the point where the movie makers’ interest transferred from specificity to un-specificity, and from production to documentation. In Gilles Deleuze’s terms, it was also the moment when motion and time rebelled against and liberated from the movie’s collectivity. The everyday scenes Hong represents are deeply related to this stem of modern movies. His characters all stand on the ground of natural emancipation, and camera, editing, and lighting become of ways not to convey or confine meanings but to record the liberation. ‘Ordinary life’ is one of the terms that puts together characteristics of modern movies, and the daily life, indeed, has placed itself on the opposite side of imagination and fiction for a long time. Documenting reality, or the present, is the core for the movies that are dealing with ‘ordinariness’, and it allows audiences to encounter the images of reality. Thus, the fact that imagination has been expelled from the modern movies seems very evident. If it should be discussed, imagination has to be inside the boundary of possible reality. That is, ordinary world and imagination are sitting with each other’s back in the modern films.
