Abstract
This study is for a case analysis on the TQM (Total Quality Management) practices adopted by Chinese manufacturers. Three manufacturers in cases show earnestness in carrying out the typical 7 TQM related characteristics except supply-chain management, which in turn should be blamed on inadequately small-size operations of typical Chinese SMEs and the ragged relations between suppliers (SMEs) and their clients (large-sized firms).
In detail, the problems in their TQM implementation can be summarized as follows : 1) lack of recognition of the importance of quality control, 2) dilapidated facilities, insufficient skills, and lack of stability in quality on the part of SMEs, and 3) lack of sufficient fund. For solution of these problems, 1) drastic actions should be taken for revolution in their frame of mind, and 2) a method should be studied for ways of production beneficial both to SMEs and to their large-sized clients.
