Abstract
The Korean Army frequently utilizes M&S (Modeling and Simulation) as a principal method for building and managing the forces effectively. In particular, we overcome various limitations for field operation trainings and achieve maximum training effectiveness with minimum cost, thanks to the M&S utilizations such as KCTC and Wargame system.
Army's Training systems that used M&S such as Live simulated training, Virtual simulated training, and Constructive simulated training have been developed independently. However, to support the realistic trainings such as NCW (Network Centric Warfare) and EBO (Effect based Operation) that match the future ground operations concept, we need to integrate simulated training systems so that we can supplement shortcomings and apply merits of each training system. As the Korean Army tries to prepare for the future battles under the rapidly changing training circumstances, we should construct training systems with the latest technologies in the first place.
This study suggests how to construct a feature, scientific LVC training system that can train military unit as well as soldiers and support new operation concepts like NCW. In particular, we discuss what expected effects from building the LVC system under the current limited training conditions and the necessity of the LVC system construction to prepare the future warfare effectively. Moreover, we suggest the direction of the LVC training system design and applications of the LVC system.
